So? That's for the GSM. No way Apple is going to be making phones that support both.
Really? You sure about that? It would keep them from having to manufacture a different case for Verizon/CDMA users. An effective cost cutting measure. When you buy a car without a sunroof, many of them have the knock-outs for the sunroof controls already there. Could be the same with the sim slot on the iPhone.
It would be very easy for them to make a 'de-contented' version for CDMA use. Yes, they are just rumors, but there is speculation that Verizon is indeed getting a version of the iPhone. Given the contract with AT&T, I can also see Verizon getting the stripped-down model.
The funny thing is- none of us know anything and we are all just speculating based off of images and a short video. Hell, the one in the video could just be a counterfeit phone. 99% of all counterfeit items come from southeast Asia. You can buy a $1000 fake Rolex that looks exactly like the real thing complete with actual serial numbers, replica movements, etc. I've worked with law enforcement to identify counterfeiters and can promise you that the fake looked just as good as a real Rolex. The latest replica's even have the laser-etched ceramic bezel that the real ones do. Even called in the serial numbers for verification and they checked out. It was actually the pin used to attach the band to the case that gave it away.
I'm thinking that the one Gizmodo had was a real pre-production model and not this one in Vietnam. They mentioned that the resolution was so good you couldn't really identify individual pixels. And I think the screws will be there. I'd rather have the screws holding things together than the cheap plastic of most of the HTC branded phones. Including the HD2 and EVO.
