You do realize the iPhone cost more in those countries than in the US and likely will even after price adjustments right?
Well Apple has been massively increasing prices here in recent years and a lot of people are fed up with it. I think the iPhone X is overpriced by about $150. A few years ago when the iPhone was $649 I said I'd be willing to spend $200 more for an "iPhone Pro" that has premium features. I think $849 would have been perfect and make people less hesitant about upgrading.

Again, they want to be a more service focussed company, how do you speed that revenue up? Reduce the price and get more people in the door. It's hardly rocket science.

It will be after. So many people forget/don't know that USD pricing is before sales tax, across the EU the pricing includes it.

Yes, I figured that was the case.

A lot of ppl also forget about consumer protection laws and potential regulation fees that the US prices in not affected by.

XS in US: 999 USD
XS in Austria: 960 EUR [1090 USD] without VAT [1149 EUR with 20 % VAT - 1305 USD]. What we pay 100 USD for?
1 year of additional of limited Gewährleistung (warranty))? Because that's almost the same as one year of full AppleCare+ would cost?

That sounds about right.

You better do it here too

why not lower prices in the US as well? I mean damn, we make up most of their sales.

Yes.

Honest to God, are corporations such as Apple so boneheaded that they can't understand kitchen table economics? The pundits all like to say the economy is doing fine; but when most households are living month-to-month, with little in the way of savings, and putting purchases such as iPhones on credit cards (because they don't have the savings & where they will accumulate more debt) – doesn't this imply that many people cannot actually afford such products?

The problem is bigger than Apple here, but they're certainly not helping. The rich cannot keep bleeding the rest of us dry and expect us to keep on giving. One day there will be no one left to prop up their crumbling edifices. o_O

Only iPhones? So the Mac prices are ok? Just do 1 USD = 1 EUR and everybody is happy.
The issue is mainly CZK <==> EUR rate for us. :) The USD ==> EUR rate used is quite OK - it could be better. I've bought my MBP in Vienna as it cost 4.000 CZK less for same specs there. I've used the difference to buy Apple Care in case the 3rd gen keyboard weren't as reliable as expected.

For the examples that people already posted, the iPhone pricing is close to a 1 to 1 exchange, once you factor in VAT and extra warranties from consumers protection laws.

Do you have some Mac examples? Can you post the base model MM pricing in your area?

Well. No. Because 1 EUR is 1.15-1.3 USD most of the time. If you add 20 % VAT, which is a norm in almost whole EU, you get to 1.4 - 1.5 EUR == 1 USD. And it ends up… with horrible prices.

This. Everybody in the US needs to see THIS before they whine about the price.

Ok, so I live in Czech Republic. The base MBP 15" costs 2399 USD, which is around 54000 CZK. Let's say we add 10% VAT for US, which is the average I think?! = around 2640 USD = 59400 CZK. In my country, the VAT is 21%, so around 2900 USD = 65200 CZK. The actual price of the base MBP 15 in Czech Republic is 74000 CZK. Please explain?

I can. Edu prices.
Austria: rMBP 2018 13"/16/512 - 2334 EUR (60000 CZK to cover minor exchange rate fluctuations).
Czechia: rMBP 2018 13"/16/512 – 64 286 CZK (2508 EUR). Quite a difference. Yes, we have 1 % (21 %) higher VAT, but...

Are you seriously suggesting that because UK and EU have better consumer rights, that that justifies Apple charging more.!!
How about making more reliable products?
