Apple should have released an additional sku with earpods and 5w adapters and charged $19 (or some other amount) for that sku. This would shift the burden to the consumer and would be more friendly than the removal of the headphone jack. There clearly would be criticism of the $19, but the criticism of disenfranchising the first time users (and those without spares) would be gone.
They really should have included the charger in particular if they changed the cable, or at the very least something along the lines of a voucher so that those who needed one would have been able to get one while those who don't would just skip it.

What Apple should have done, what did did do is an opinion. The voucher is not a good idea as it creates a secondard market for the 20 watt usb-c chargers.

For me, if I purchase the iphone 12, I will stow the included cable in a draw and use my existing usb-a charger bricks and cords and not give it a second thought.

I don't believe Apple is mandated to make 100% of the it's customers/potential customers aligned on every nuance. That said, if they get enough people annoyed enough, it could effect their bottom line.

That could happen but not likely, which means they can do pretty much whatever they want. However, that doesn't necessarily make it right or good, in particular from the consumer side of things.

So if they give you the $19 for the missing EarPods, are you going to give them the extra $100ish for the 5G radio and antennas?

sorry but the 5G radio is current tech and iPhone is the most expensive phone with current prices. Going by your argument we should be paying less for the phone given other brands had 5G last year. And there are phones tenth of the price with a 5G radio.
If it still had 4G apple couldn’t charge what they are charging today.
Hope my comment doesn’t affect your share prices.

Probably those less expensive phones don’t have 7 years of support, a world wide network of stores one can walk into to get help plus more...To each their own budget and priorities...
