Not really. You just wake up the phone and all notifications are there. I am using GS5 now and I agree the LED notification is handy. As for the notification icons on the top of the screen I don't like it and find them really messy. But that's just me.

Well how about an icon *option* for those of us that find them useful? I guess I should just accept and be grateful for what Apple in their infinite wisdom determines what is best for me. Sigh.

how do the new phones compare to the galaxy note 2?

i really hated every second of using the galaxy note 2.

It's also obvious that people want an iPhone more than any individual android phone.

Well, duh? There are, what, half a dozen or so iPhone models out on the market, and tens of thousands of Android devices. It would be a pretty damned spectacular fail if the iPhone wasn't more popular.

context is always a good thing. I had a point. It was in the part that you didn't quote.

Based on 2013 numbers, .6% would be 6 million iPhones, which equates to 4.8 billion in additional revenue.

Pour me a glass, please.

Ummm, no. If 0.6% was 6 million, then 100% would be 1 billion (1,000,000,000).
These figures are for the USA alone, with an estimated population of 318 million currently (source).

There are approx. 1059 million (1.059 BILLION) cell subscriptions in 'The Americas' (incl. USA, South America Canada, etc.) as of May 2014 and 345 million subscriptions in the USA, which, due to many people having company and personal use phones, is greater than the population (source).

So, although I agree this is actually a decent rise in users, given that that's what BlackBerry lost the same amount (and who uses a BlackBerry these days?), the actual rise is much less than 6 million users, at just over 2 million.

Still impressive though.

yay... we're number #1...

boo, its only in U.S

I can tell why Apple only thinks inside the U.S here, but they do have a mac people outside the U.S, smaller or not... obviously to them they only care where the big numbers are, which is why it's inaccurate. I never believe stats because of this.
