Why are you bashing apple over this. Someone violated a contract they had with apple and felt the consequences of that breaking of a trust and a legal document. Are you advocating the position that contracts are made to be broken?

who said i was bashing Apple?

I don't think any dev submitting their app yet. They just got the dev kit and are still working on their apps. It takes time to write code.
True enough, but I would be surprised if Apple wouldn't somehow have a pulse on App development and or pending submissions, especially some of the simpler, less extensive or complicated Apps.

Looks like the second batch of Apple TV Dev Kits don't include the nice USB-A to USB-C cable! So, I'm guessing these come with a firmware already installed? or, maybe we have to all buy a cable now.. hmm... Odd...
I'm willing to bet that the second batch of dev kits come in the official retail packaging, so there is no room for the extra cable. The original dev kits came in a special 'developer kit' box.

Jonny Ives has reinvented the iBanHammer just for Apples new projects. It's sleeker, more balanced for a quality hammering experience.
Legally, Apple cannot make your purchase of a developer Apple TV unit confidential. That is a trade issue which must be public for tax and commerce monitoring. What is inside the unit and detailed features can be confidential.

I doubt you can submit apps yet, since the SDK isn't final. Usually they open the submission process after an SDK (or OS) is GM.

Plus, you'd want to actually test on GM before shipping.

I actually agree with you. It's almost too bad though -- the idea of getting the "As (not yet) seen on TV" boxes appeals to me.

Guess I'll find out soon enough, as my ATV is shipping soon. :D

Apple has no idea how many apps are or are not being created right now with the Dev Kits. Keep reaching, though.

You can't submit the app binary to the app store yet (as Apple do not allow submissions using Beta versions of Xcode, and 7.1 is still in beta), but you can setup the tvOS app metadata in the Connect portal, which i would imagine any dev who is serious about releasing before end of this month will already be doing so as to secure things like app name, so Apple should have a (very rough) idea of how many people are serious about submitting on release.

How do you use it for development without the USB cable though? If it's not in the box you'd have to buy one.

Hopefully none of the developers will be as stupid as iFixit and we can see some nicely designed apps!
iFitIt really doubled down and rolled snakes eyes with their Apple TV tear down. Would not be surprised if they go the "deep throat" route after this and get inside info from an Apple insider without a formal connection.

Technically you can use TestFlight, but that would be a pain.
Ahh good point.. But you'd still miss out on Instruments and the like (and yeah, small bits of your sanity having to make Testflight builds instead of just clicking "Run" :)

I doubt Apple could measure the amount of development done right now. All they can count are dev units shipped.

For every Apple TV enabled for development, and usually for every new tvOS app in development (with a unique Bundle ID), Xcode talks to Apple's servers to create new provisioning profiles. Thus, Apple can count new development starts by the day/hour (and even guess what a lot of them might do by the default Bundle ID suffix).

To those in the uk still hoping don't give up hope yet. Won't say more but check emails.

Or perhaps "underwhelming App creation" up to this point, jeopardizing a successful :apple:tv launch later this month.

Apple hasn't begun accepting submissions for the tvOS App Store, so they have no idea how progress is going as far as app creation is concerned.

Got an invitation today at 6.20am. UK. What was the last shipping dates? Mine arrival states 12-14th Nov, but shipping within 1-3 business days.

Everything I've ever had from Apple has been overly cautious on the delivery date until the item actually ships. I'd be surprised if that date didn't change once your Apple TV is in the hands of the courier.
