Hey guys, I have a question. In regards to this Amazon prime video bit, can't Amazon make and publish their own prime video app now that the Apple TV has an AppStore? I mean since Apple allows Netflix and Hulu, I highly doubt they will block a prime video app..........

Or is this amazons attempt to weed out the competition and sell move firetv boxes?

This is nice to hear. The more apps ready on the release the better!!! Excited for this to come out. Already prepped my wife last month that we were getting this. Haha.

i got one!

wait...NO I DIDNT SAY THAT, APPLE DONT BAN ME PLS
Why are you bashing apple over this. Someone violated a contract they had with apple and felt the consequences of that breaking of a trust and a legal document. Are you advocating the position that contracts are made to be broken?

WTF?!?! I want one! When is it available to the rest of us?!?
When it's released later this year.

I received the email yesterday. When I click on submit your order link it tells me I don't have access:-(
I have left them an email. I got confirmation they will respond within 1 business day

Yeah, I prepped the wife as well as soon as it was announced. She was ecstatic at the prospect, ahem
Yea I just got "the look". The one that says I'm not going to fight this battle but I want you to know I'm not all for it. =] that's a win in my book.

iFixit spends a lot of money buying hardware it mainly wrecks analyzing it. Being banned temporarily from the Dev program is just a cost of doing business. It did provide insights that otherwise would not have been available for several months. They did have the integrity to admit it was their own unit and not pull some scheme like getting one from an anonymous third party to tear down. They in the first instance should have honored their agreement of course.

Or perhaps "underwhelming App creation" up to this point, jeopardizing a successful :apple:tv launch later this month.

I don't think any dev submitting their app yet. They just got the dev kit and are still working on their apps. It takes time to write code.

Pretty much true. I haven't checked for Apple TV yet but with things like Apple Watch and the standard yearly iOS updates you can crest s slot for an app (which I guess shows how many ideas there are) in your developer profile but can't upload until usually the GM goes live.

I suppose Apple Watch was a bit different due to the lack of developer hardware to test in.

I doubt Apple could measure the amount of development done right now. All they can count are dev units shipped.

There will be some, the chosen few who got early access to the new hardware behind closed doors. But for the rest of us, I'd be amazed if any normal developer had anything but a very, very basic app ready to go.

For the record I don't have a new ATV yet, damn :D

But my next game, which is nearly finished for iOS is going to take a bit of work for the Apple TV port. Even then it'll likely need refinement once I finally get the hardware to test it on. Still, I'm really looking forward to playing it on the big screen.

Believe it or not, all through development the past couple of years I've been hoping they would finally do an AppStore for the Apple TV so I could play my game on it. (Yes I play my own games and use my own apps, someone has to lol.)

Looks like the second batch of Apple TV Dev Kits don't include the nice USB-A to USB-C cable! So, I'm guessing these come with a firmware already installed? or, maybe we have to all buy a cable now.. hmm... Odd...
