That makes me so sad, especially the part when he made the first public call with an iPhone, he had such a funny personality <3

Yep, and Tim Cook has no personality. I'd rather stare at a blank wall for 2 hours than listen to him empty words.

Steve wouldn't care if Tim wrote this sappy letter - that's all Tim is - good with words. Steve would be more disappointed that Tim Cook is driving the company into the ground. Doubling down on security. Apple Maps. The guy is full of empty promises. Steve would never have let all this happen.

Nice letter though. Too bad Tim doesn't have the stuff to back it up.

If you really think that everything Apple has released today was planned and created in the last year - you're insane. A product like the iPhone 5 has probably been in development for 2+ years.

I wouldn't be surprised if their design process was something like this:
  • 3 years before: Create basic outline of phone (design, functionality, features, etc)
  • 2.5 years before: Determine software to understand components needed
  • 2 years before: Design internal hardware to run software specs
  • 1.5 years before: Design external casing to fit internal hardware
  • 1 year before: Work to fit internal hardware into phone design
  • .5 years before: Make any last minute modifications to hardware & software
  • 2 months before: Production

Agreed.

Thankfully my 64GB iPad has plenty of room for all the classic ones from down the years.

I have been collecting them over the years as well. Thankfully I grabbed many of them when they were online through rogue sites that ignored the little splash pages at the start. ;) Some of my favorites are the first time OS X was shown, the intro of the G4, as well as G5 systems.

Steve will for sure be missed, and I have hopes that Tim, and the rest of the executive staff can keep us all drooling over new products going forward.

^ THAT

the guy has as much energy as Mr Rogers

but the guy truly is brilliant at what he does, i just don't feel he should be announcing products on stage. leave that to the product wizards as they're called. tim is a supply chain and operations genius - he should be working hard at fixing those problems which coincidentally seemed to crop up right after he left.

Too bad you couldn't be less predictable. Zzzzzzzzz

It's hard for me to reconcile the man with the product/s...

What I mean is... without Steve, yes the past 15 years of personal computing, music, and telephony would probably have been completely different... (much more bland, much less fun) Yes, I own an iPhone, a PowerMac, a Macbook Pro... and a lot of that is touched by Steve...

But now, finally, the subject of bullying is becoming recognised world over as something that must be stopped... And, whilst some may just say Steve was insistent, single minded to a fault, even arrogant throughout his career with Apple (which is all that I know of), he was also known for his temper... for his volatile nature...

I don't think I'd ever have wanted to work for him due to this... nor believe anyone else should have to... much like James Cameron, who is similarly known to scream at people who don't happen to know how to read his mind to get things just right... I'd hate to be working in an environment where you knew that any day, any minute you could be facing a screaming ranting megalomaniac...

Today I'll remember Steve the perfectionist, who brought us so many amazing things... That is good.

I love the photos they chose, especially one of the last ones, where Steve is standing by an Apple motherboard with a keyboard and a bare CRT monitor. So wonderful. :)

Still so very sad, whenever I stop to think about it, I can't believe it actually happened. I'd like to think that he's still around here somewhere. Even if it's just in ourselves.

cheese and crackers you people are nuts.

I completely forgot this was already October 5th. It DOES NOT feel like it's already been a year. I opened Apple's page, saw a video, and didn't know what it was for. I immediately opened MacRumors, and I was shocked. I can't believe he's been gone for a year. Feels like it flew by; more so because of what I've been through in this past year.

We miss you, Steve.

*Love that they threw in the "4,000 lattes to go" call; a bit of humor and happy reflection was a nice touch.

Give it a rest. Let people have their remembrances of Steve. He meant a lot to a lot of people, even those who didn't personally know him. This isn't about Tim, it's about remembering a person that had a huge impact on the world. Just let people remember for a little while.

I didn't act as if he was even a friend of mine when he died, but it is sad. Steve Jobs is someone that truly shaped his world - and helped a lot of other people help their world. He didn't try to act like anyone else and didn't want to run Apple like any other company, they were truly individualistic. More people in the world need to live this way.
