Well, yeah. It's the same price as iPhone 16e with 256GB. Anyone would have bought it.

The problem is that it's not viable for Apple.

Apple giving the green light to Amazon to lower the price this much tells you how ridiculously poorly it's selling.

When is this discount going to be at Costco? I wouldn’t mind picking one up as a collectors item.

Such as shame they did not release a 6.1" version of the iphone air. Would have been lighter than the 13 mini.

I’m guessing a 6.1” version probably would have had too small of a battery to be acceptable for most consumers.

Ultimately, simply being beautiful and sleek wasn’t enough of a selling point. If they want to turn the Air into a high-end trade-off phone, they need to put a silicon carbide battery in it and add an ultrawide camera. Then it would be an attractive alternative to the Pro for a meaningful subset of users.

But why would Apple or any company want to take sales away from their most profitable models (I assume the Pros are the most profitable)?

Couldn’t believe it when I saw it yesterday. I’ve ordered a blue 256 to replace my work phone. Basically an email/whatsapp machine so don’t need long battery life or cameras (personal 17 pro max can handle that). Looking forward to it arriving!

After you've been using both for awhile let us know in one of the Air threads what your usage looks like for each device! I'm curious which phone people are drawn to when they carry both. Although if work and personal usage are separated then that probably dictates a lot of which device one will use.

It’s a thin phone . Meant for high tech enthusiasts. The problem is the major development costs to create a thin phone.

Actually it has moved. Apple (and Samsung) are waiting for silicon-carbon anode battery technology to mature a bit more before jumping on board with it.

Does this imply that the parts for the Air 2 will be so different from the first Air that all the assembly infrastructure for it will be so different that just about everything has to be retooled?

The 2nd Air is not verified. And if, the frame and display i guess would still be the same. Can’t imagine they will fit in a 2nd camera

They plan, design and provide a rough release schedule for these phones at least a year in advance, so there should be no surprise Air 2 would still be coming out this year.

But Air 3? By the looks of things, no chance.

Kind of annoying the variable pricing depending on the colour you choose. Looks like it’s picked up the sales if nothing else. I mean the Sky Blue has already gone out of stock and black is the number one seller. Be interested to see if the Sky Blue gets re-stocked or if once they go out of stock that’s it.

Ah, the price it should have been to begin with. The Air line was always under the Pro. They gave the Air well-established iPhone Pro pricing ($999) and are surprised that it isn't popular.
