If MGM is that desperate for cash they should just sell themselves outright to Apple. Bond will do well in theaters it just needs to wait.

As long as the movie is still available at the movie theaters, they can buy whatever they like...

Bond deserves to be seen on the big screen!
True, but the movie industry is hurting big time due to covid and I definitely can see all big movies having a massive deal with streamers. They keep postponing the releases but we very well will be in this conundrum for another 1 or 2 years easy.

This would really put a huge spotlight on ATV+. Suddenly everyone would know about ATV+, they haven’t had a breakthrough show yet like GoT. A james bond movie could very well be what ATV+ needs to become a household name.

Maybe trying to time it for after all of the Apple TV plus subscriptions end in order to get people re-engaged

MGM has been bankrupt and bought a couple of times. It’s Sony-Columbia-Eon-Danjaq own Bond under the MGM banner.

If that happens, I will pay for ATV+. Wherever SG lands, I'll pay for it.

The people behind SG-1/A/U are already working on an idea for a new series, so it's definitely a matter of time. I'd love it to go to Apple. ATV+'s track record is still new but I feel like it would be safer there than Netflix. Netflix would probably cancel it after 3 seasons because of their dumb business practices lol

Would love to see bond on Apple TV, and if they then did a limited theatre release in a year I’d go see that one too.

Tenet was a terrible film. And it frustrates me that studios are using that as the barometer to release additional movies. After seeing it, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone but the most die hard Nolan fans (and I’m a Nolan fan).

Yeah, it's been an idea/development for quite a while. Still waiting for something confirmed and greenlit. Though I'd rather it go to a different streaming service (any would do for me), if it goes to Apple, I'll pay for Apple.

Ugh, I wished I did not see this post. I have this on my lists of need to watch.

I saw tenet and imo it was really good. Not the best movie I’ve seen but definitely up there. Gotta admit that I can see how a lot of people might not like it tho, it’s really one of those movies you either love or hate, there’s no in between with tenet.

I would be really surprised if they did this. They’ve already pushed the film twice to make sure that it gets released in theaters
MGM isn't some charity intent on helping movie theaters. They pushed it twice because they knew they wouldn't be able to make enough money on the movie given covid-19! If they can make the kind of money a theatrical release would normally make by selling it to a streamer, they'd do so in a heartbeat.

Nooooo. If the future of feature films is relegated to paid subscription services it will be a sad day. Having to pay $15/mo+ for each subscription service just to watch a handful of films is getting old. Disney+ already got me just because of the Mandalorian, but beyond that, there’s not much else to watch at this point. Who really benefits when a subscription service owns the exclusive rights to a feature film? Sad.

Just to be clear, I think this is just a Placeholder, to keep people from Bailing on their existing Sub, most of which are currently FREE, until things Normalize WRT Covid.

And, I think Apple should do whatever it takes to get the Movie !

A $2T USD market cap company without a legit BIG screen TV streaming service won't be $2T USD for very long !

NOT Rocket Science !

IMO, it's worth Billions of Dollars to Apple !

A true, Flagship-caliber Movie !

Greyhound told an important Story, but wasn't that.

meh.... my 65in is good enough. Hope this happens.... even before COVID-19 lockdowns, I was tired of overspending to see movies 1 time in a theatre.

As much as I’d love to see this ASAP and at home, this would be a huge blow to cinemas. In the UK we’ve already just lost one cinema chain based on this movie being delayed alone. They should just do a cinema release and accept whatever comes in because whatever revenue it does generate, it will be more than they will get if the majority of cinemas are closed when it does eventually release.
