Agreed, Tesla may not even exist in a few years as they proved to be incapable to produce mass produced car. Funny, Tesla exhausted US market, you know the biggest in the entire world, if not universe ;-), with just 50,000 cars and now hopping international markets will keep its "yuppy" 100K+ cars sales going for a year or so. Good Luck Tesla! you really need it.

The company is going to fail and produces a "yuppy" car because you feel you can't afford it? Arrange a test drive and and see if you feel differently. I am just an iOS Dev and I take delivery in March VIN #320XX. After test driving you'll realize they are here to stay and if you still believe it is out of your reach wait for Gen 3.

Are you being serious? Tesla has not exhausted the US market any more than Apple has. Sure, the market for $100k cars is not the same as that for $20k cars, but Tesla is working to close the gap with a $40k car. I'd argue that GM has more to worry about than Tesla, by not moving forward and pushing consumers forward. That old mentality of doing business is not going to cut it in the near future.

It's funny how many people are focusing on the Tesla part of this article, while the second half says that Apple is looking into preventing heart attacks. That's kind of a huge deal.

Agreed, very interesting research. In all corners of the internet you will see when Tesla's name is brought up it will take precedence of the conversation. The skeptics and die hard "fanbois" come out.

I don't believe they met to talk about iOS integration because if that was the case then Tesla would have got it working by now. As it is today (Tesla firmware version 5.8.7) you can't plug in an iOS device through USB to play music...

I hope they fix this with the pending version 6.0

A firmware update can't change Apple hardware, they don't use usb, better find an aux input or buy a Galaxy.

Sorry, but I don't know what you base this statement on? I'm taking delivery of a Model S in April and it will be my only car. I have a wife and three kids, it's not a "toy".

I agree the car is not cheap, but the total cost of ownership is very low, in fact the net monthly cost comes out about the same as the Volvo it's replacing.

I'm buying mine with a financial lease... I could operationally lease it too if I wanted...

Just wait until the battery needs to be replaced and then you'll rethink your mind. But if you're leasing, you probably won't have the car that long anyway.

China is the biggest market in the world not the US.

See, Apple is evil! Heart attack prevention… Just trying to keep customers from dying so they'll buy more iPhones.

Also, Apple+Tesla? Sounds amazing but please, no; I can't afford to upgrade my car every year.

You can replace the battery at any point at a charging station in 90 seconds...

I can't afford to upgrade my car every year.

You realize that every other auto manufacturer already updates their car once a year, just like Apple updates their products once a year? Nobody makes you upgrade every year. The iMac I'm typing this message to you on will be turning 8 in a few months. My MBA is 6 years old. My iPhone is 3 years old.

If the iWatch can predict heart attacks then this will be as big, if not bigger, than iPhone and iPad!

I already said it would be of comparison to those device launches long ago. It will change life once again. Most people are just too stupid to understand the possibilities of tech like the iWatch.

And people have been looking into preventing heart attacks and a multitude of other diseases and conditions for hundreds of years. Now all of a sudden it's a big deal because Apple is rumored to be doing so?

The iWatch will be just as big as the iPod iPad or iPhone. I've said it before, anyone too stupid to understand the possibilities should not comment, but of course they do anyway.

P.S. People have been researching how to prevent heart attacks, and prevention methods are vast, and well known now. Apple could be the next step in this long list of prevention methods, and I knew the iWatch would be amazing.

In the context of this article I think it's a bigger deal than possibly buying Tesla.

Having invested in both Apple and biotech stocks, I have to say that Apple moving into biotech is actually concerning. On the surface it seems fine, but research into biotech projects is an area that is not Apple's core strength and is very high risk. Integration of technology into Apple products? sure, but the idea that Apple will drive new, novel, and previously never developed medical device products into mass production at the level of quality and user experience Apple expects puts Apple's reputation at significant risk in my opinion. If they can pull it off, more power to them, but new sensor technology and FDA approvals are high risk ventures. Integration of hardware and software is where Apple excels, but the majority of the hardware apple uses is not of its own invention. I wish them well, but remain concerned.

That'll be the battery that has an 8 year unlimited mileage warranty, right?

In four years time I'll own the car and then I'll decide whether to keep it or sell and get a newer Tesla. Once you've driven a Tesla there's no going back to internal combustion engines...

Biotech has nothing to do with Biometrics

Biotech companies make drugs

Lol that's just funny and sad... They hired numerous people for these projects.

I have no issue with affording it, the problem is they need to produce car that millions can afford to be around. Fortunately, I have way better car than Tesla will ever produce, so I have no reason to shop for a car. Gen 3 @ 30K will never happen (if it is so hard to deduct for Telsa owners...). You really have not much to expect from a car, do you? This car weight like a full size SUV, it only drives quick on straight line, try to turn in this overweight slug, a-ah I thought so, not. Overrated 5000 lb battery on wheels - it is.

Doing a yoda impression makes people look really unintelligent.

Elon Musk is also the founder of paypal.....

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet.. Elon Musk also founded PayPal and SpaceX. While I don't think Apple plans to buy a spaceship or even an electric car company, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if their meeting was centered around paypal and mobile payments.

No, it was always a big deal. Any advancement on prevention of heart attacks is a huge deal, including this, if it's real. I would never ever wear a watch, but if it's going to tell me how my heart is doing, I will.
