we can't innovate, so lets just make our products cheaper... you know, reduce capacity, capabilities, and align ourselves with the robust and highly meaningful world of gangster rap and crappy headphones.

I'm disgusted... downloading Ubuntu now and looking for a Ubuntu Touch mobile device.

Enjoy your awful and hideous OS. We'll miss you so much.

8GB is barely enough to hold the OS and 5 of the most popular apps. Time to go 16/64/128 Apple. It costs them pennies to add that much storage. Having an 8GB phone these days is just insulting.

Exactly! Thats a such a joke, reducing the RAM to this level is more of an insult to the consumer. Well Mr. Cheap consumer, here is your punishment for not splurging on the the top-of-the-line models, a nerfed phone.

The 5c actually made sense as the Budget phone but they failed to market it at a budget price.

It was proven that it was the difference in SSD manufacturer that caused the differences in speed. It was not intentional.

Oh alright, I did not know that. So it's the same story with as with my '11 MacBook Air. I got the base version which has the Toshiba ssd and if you pick the 256gb option you'll get the Samsung ssd which has faster transfer speeds.

Yea exactly.

Rumor sites will revise their claims with a new post hours after they posted a pretty wild claim. It was couple posts after this site posted the reason for why Apple dropped the price before they posted that it's nothing to worry about.

Your mama doesn't get to use iOS :(

She loves Windows Phone. Her eyes are not so good and she is not used to touch small targets on a screen, so she decided to put the live tiles (Windows phone's "icon/widgets") to the bigest size. That way not only she gets information like missed calls, new messages or the weather at a glace, directly on the tiles, but she can see and open the apps she needs very easily. :)

With Android she would likely become insane, and if I tell her that she has to spend $500 or $600 in a phone (iPhone), she would say I am insane. :D

If he needs Google to tell him how to reinstall OSX then I'd say Apple has fallen quite a ways from the Mac's user-friendly roots.

OS X is the easiest install ever. But he may need to wipe out Ubuntu first depending on what tricks it uses to install on a Mac. That's why I said google to uninstall ubuntu and not google to install os x. :D

Why waste a Mac for Ubuntu? any cheap PC would be enough, just like nobody (normal person) rents a limo just to go to the supermarket.

Totally agree.

still hoping to see a $499 mac mini at WWDC

or a $999 entry iMac.

hopefully both

Apple has released new hardware at WWDC 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013.
what not surprise me if some new hardware is announced at wwdc 2014.

The cheaper iMac I get, yeah that's great and all...

But an 8GB 5S? My friend's 16 Gig is almost full, and he has almost nothing on the phone. Hell, even my 64GB is feeling cramped with the size of apps these days.

With the iPhone 5C in existence - my only question is WHY.

I don't keep a lot of apps on my phone and I use Spotify for music. I imagine that I'm the exact type of person that would benefit from a cheaper, lower-capacity 8GB model. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

If they released an 8GB 5S at, say, a $125-$150 (w/ contract) price point, I'd be all over it. Might not seem like a huge difference compared to the 16GB model, but I bet it would lower the barrier of entry for some people.

Wow, talk about ignorance. It's an operating system. We're not mod-chipping a PS3 to play pirated games here. Worst-case scenario is you reformat the drive and start over again - which OSX's installer disc has to tools to do just fine. I'm typing this on an iBook G4, and I've run Lubuntu (lighter weight interface version of Ubuntu) on it before, and it's not even the same processor platform as PC hardware uses. All I had to do was boot from CD and add a small string to the boot command so it knew how display graphics properly with the video hardware. The machine ran and I surfed the Net on it.
