I wonder what the sales of the foldable phones are like in Asia, as my experience there is the majority of people have larger phones and watch a lot of videos on them whilst travelling on the public transport.

Also I would love to have the equivalent of an iPad mini that could fold to an iPhone size with pencil support. It is literally my dream device. But this is for specific functions of sketching and reviewing images etc, whereas I can understand the majority of people wouldn’t have the use for it.

This is the stupidest thing I've heard of. Just as stupid as no floppy drive, and no optical drive and no hard drive (spinner), and no ethernet port and Macs. It's such a stupid idea that I probably won't be able to live without it. :)

If you're referring to me, I completed more than the first year of law school. And what is the "critique?" It's a question - there's a factual premise on which your commentary rests, and some of us doubt the factual premise, so we ask questions
What type of Law are you focusing in?

So you've never used your phone and found yourself rather having a larger display for the moment?

Every person who has ever used a phone has had moments where they wish they had a bigger display at that moment.

Foldable solve this problem.

All the people on this site criticizing foldables are only doing so because the competition has them right now and apple doesn't.

We hear this every time and it gets old.
No. I’ve just not felt I’ve needed it.

All the people? The <ahem> competition has not yet brought a complete package to market. Yet. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. I’d just love to know whether the bendy foldy screen is a benefit versus the chunky size. And whether the battery life is an entire day given the extra power requirement.

It also gets very old listening to people crap on about people wondering these things on an Apple forum. Very boring really. Your partisanship of Apple v Whomever is worthless without qualify your actual experiences. Talk about "why" it’s good, not that Apple people are jealous of beta version phones. AU$3,000 for a foldable phone... 😂😂😂

Fair to say you have no interest in folding phones that are currently available. Hard to predict that you will have no interest in a folding phone that does not exist yet. Presumably if Apple releases one, it will be because it actually solves a problem that real people have, and it won't be a "technology demo" like the current folding phones in the marketplace.

Well said, except for the "technology demo" part, that confuses me. I don't feel that way about my Fold 2 at all, it just has a different set of pluses and minuses than non folding phones. I'm also not as confident that Apple will "solve" anything, I don't feel like there is much to solve, maybe refine and improve would be better terms.

I call BS, although BS with no proof, I just fail to see how you have never wanted a larger screen ignoring all other factors. I mean pie in the sky, maybe you are sitting watching a movie or reading a webpage and you think a larger screen would be nice.

Is a bendy foldy screen a benefit versus the chunky size? I can only speak for myself, but HELL YEAH. My previous M.O. was to carry an ipad mini 5 in my back pocket, but now having something thicker but at the same time more narrow fit all into my front pocket and also not have to be synced and such is so much more convenient. FYI I'm much much more an Apple guy and would have never dreamed of switching from my iPhone if it wasn't for the folding factor, that's why if Apple comes out with something similar I'll be the first in line. FYI battery life is stellar.

PS, lastly an iPhone 12 pro (non max) 256gb = $1099 + ipad mini 5 cellular 256gb = $679 for a total of $1778 which isn't that far off. Now if the Fold2 were wider I'd compare a max/ipad5 combo at $1878. That's USD, the Fold 2 cost me $1999 (actually it was a LOT less with my first responder discount and almost free Galaxy watch 3 and Ear buds and pre order discounts).
