As early as this week, Apple plans to introduce a new iCloud-based service for event invites, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In his Power On newsletter, Gurman said the new service is codenamed "Confetti" within Apple. He said the service will offer users a "new way to invite people to parties, functions, and meetings." He did not say if this functionality would be available through a new standalone app, or built into an existing app, such as Calendar.

Gurman said the new service is tied to iOS 18.3, which was released to the public last week.

Last month, 9to5Mac discovered iOS 18.3 code references to a potential new "Invites" app from Apple, that would help users to organize meetings and other events. The report said the app would have iCloud integration. Gurman's information today seems to corroborate these findings, but there are still many unknown details.

Apple's expected announcement should provide more clarity soon.

Maybe they should focus on fixing the icloud backup storage. My backup storage doubled in size for no apparent reason when I updated from ios 17.5 to ios 18.0...its gotten better over time but its not down to where it should be. I have iphone se 2022 so I dont have the ai feature. ITS A MYSTERY why its increasing when Im not doing anything to it. Also they need to fix the texts because theyre not being deleted off the server end once u delete them manually from recently deleted. Its suppose to take up to 4 days to delete texts from the server end on its own but its not doing this. I noticed this bug in ios 18.2 and its still there in 18.3

Honestly, Apple device backups shouldn't count toward iCloud storage at all.

Here come all the people without kids in the comments saying how this is stupid and pointless yet they have no idea what it’s like to send out invites to your kids birthday party or kids graduation party using Evite and how horrible of an experience that is.

Even if totally unrelated because of it just requires 18.3, seems likes news could imply more activity against what’s next that has yet to start its first seeding. ;)

I do all my inviting for MidSummer, Crayfish, Vappu, Pikkujoulu and other parties using WhatsApp. Simple to do and everyone I care about responds promptly as I throw great parties

And a likely iOS-only invites app will help with managing events for Android using guests how?

Not sure what u mean but I was saying that my icloud storage was 57mb and then when I updated ios to 18.0 it went to 87mb I think. Now we are at ios 18.3 and its 190mb. I only have 25 contacts 1 photo 0 texts so dont know whats eating up the icloud storage. The iphone storage is messed up too but that only started happening in ios 18.2 Ive heard others have this issue with iphone storage too on 18.3
