I have been wanting a feature like this for YEARS! Regular Calendar invites to meetings and events suck... I want to quickly invite other iPhone users and friends thru iMessage. iCal always wants an email and I just want to use phone numbers.

are they increasing the storage of the starting option because its been the same forever and needs to be updated

If this isn't baked into Calendar, and becomes its own bespoke app, this is one of the dumbest decisions Apple has ever made.

I never thought I'd say this, but Microsoft Outlook/Teams/Calendar/Planner blows Apple Mail/Messages(?)/Calendar/Reminders out of the water.
MS Outlook Mac is free, so use if if you prefer it.

I do... Every day...

Sounds like the beginnings of yet another social networking service. Imagine it telling you the previous events you attended with [person] based on history, all while in the background AI is analyzing the social behavior of group gatherings, like an anthropologist studying an isolated tribe.

What about the already existing event invite service named Confetti? It’s been around for at least 10 years. https://confetti.events/en
What about it? Indications are that "Confetti" is the internal code name, and the references in iOS are to an app named "Invites". Should another company get upset that they used a theme related word as an internal code name for a project?

(Actually, there's and old story that Apple had a project decades ago with the internal code name Sagan, and Carl Sagan heard about it and got upset, so they VH anger the code name for the project to "Butthead Astronomer".)

I said this on the previous Invites post in early January.. I wonder how far off I’ll be.

I usually just check top comments on articles but came here to see if anyone said the first thing that came to my mind… and nope!

Apple Intelligence/Image Playground could be a huge help in creating invite flyers. Imagine being able to pull in the person’s likeness and the other accessories and themes, custom prompts, etc.

And as far as invites, you’d be able to add details that get embedded into flyer similar to images and genmoji now so that when you send it, it can auto-add to calendar and even show other invitees and responses if enabled by sender?

For android, they’d just get the flyer and maybe a private secure link that lets them rsvp.

And for the inevitable premium AI+ subscription it could unlock certain features.

I actually really like it the idea if that’s where they’re headed.

Here come all the people without kids in the comments saying how this is stupid and pointless yet they have no idea what it’s like to send out invites to your kids birthday party or kids graduation party using Evite and how horrible of an experience that is.
You… You do realise people managed to send out event invitations long before the internet was a thing, right?

Will be interesting to see this. Not sure how useful it will be. Eagerly waiting to hear more about it. Think it will be a standalone app.
