I have been wanting a feature like this for YEARS! Regular Calendar invites to meetings and events suck... I want to quickly invite other iPhone users and friends thru iMessage. iCal always wants an email and I just want to use phone numbers.
Apple Offers Free ServiceThe invitation iOS app coming a.lot sooner, that’s great,
My post is not complaining? This is no different then Classical app arriving on iPhones, there is no cost involved.Apple Offers Free Service
@Realityck: Finds way to complain. About free.
MS Outlook Mac is free, so use if if you prefer it.If this isn't baked into Calendar, and becomes its own bespoke app, this is one of the dumbest decisions Apple has ever made.
I never thought I'd say this, but Microsoft Outlook/Teams/Calendar/Planner blows Apple Mail/Messages(?)/Calendar/Reminders out of the water.

You must live in a country where WhatsApp is dominantI do all my inviting for MidSummer, Crayfish, Vappu, Pikkujoulu and other parties using WhatsApp. Simple to do and everyone I care about responds promptly as I throw great parties![]()
Yes, pretty much anywhere outside the US. Most iPhone users here avoid iMessage. You must live in a country where WhatsApp is dominant
Higher base storage seems a tad more important but what do I know.
Honestly, Apple device backups shouldn't count toward iCloud storage at all.
Exactly. More useless proprietary services.
It would be proprietary even if it supported Android users.
So a party only for iPhone owners?
What makes you jump to the conclusion that it's only for iPhone owners? They talk about iCloud, it could very well be app-based for iPhone users and have a web app for non-iPhone users. So a party only for iPhone owners?
What about it? Indications are that "Confetti" is the internal code name, and the references in iOS are to an app named "Invites". Should another company get upset that they used a theme related word as an internal code name for a project? What about the already existing event invite service named Confetti? It’s been around for at least 10 years. https://confetti.events/en
Do you think Evites is not proprietary? It would be proprietary even if it supported Android users.
I usually just check top comments on articles but came here to see if anyone said the first thing that came to my mind… and nope!
Apple Intelligence/Image Playground could be a huge help in creating invite flyers. Imagine being able to pull in the person’s likeness and the other accessories and themes, custom prompts, etc.
And as far as invites, you’d be able to add details that get embedded into flyer similar to images and genmoji now so that when you send it, it can auto-add to calendar and even show other invitees and responses if enabled by sender?
For android, they’d just get the flyer and maybe a private secure link that lets them rsvp.
And for the inevitable premium AI+ subscription it could unlock certain features.
I actually really like it the idea if that’s where they’re headed.
You… You do realise people managed to send out event invitations long before the internet was a thing, right? Here come all the people without kids in the comments saying how this is stupid and pointless yet they have no idea what it’s like to send out invites to your kids birthday party or kids graduation party using Evite and how horrible of an experience that is.
