Would be nice not to chop up animals so our phone can wear their skin. really.
Seeing as animals are being discussed.... I am pleased that Apple is not based in Canada as they quite possibly would be offering seal fur cases. It would be interesting to know just how many of these cases they sold over the years and how many cows had to die as a result?
From what I understand, the leather for this stuff is not derived from cows slaughtered for meat anyway but rather from cows specifically raised for this purpose - and usually in SE Asia under sometimes questionable conditions.
Also, I still see product recalls for leather products due to increased level of hexavalent chromium, so I'm not too keen on real leather either anymore (and I'm not vegetarian...).
Additionally, their push into India (where people think differently...about cows) might be helped by this is just all cases are vegan and there is no chance someone accidentally buys a leather-case - same reason a lot of people from that region only eat in vegetarian restaurants because only there can they be sure to never eat the "wrong" kind of meat...
Are you suggesting that plastic is great for the environment? If they come up with a nice alternative that's vegan and just as good or better, that would be great for both the environment and animal welfare.
Or you know, just plain vinyl - which is petrol."Vegan leather" you mean pleather? That's what they used to call it.
Leaker vs Leaker, a tale as old as time
Companies like to toss Vegan into the name to virtue signal, if we're being honest. That's really the only reason they do it."Vegan leather" you mean pleather? That's what they used to call it.
The U.S. gets so little leather products from Nicaragua and Ethiopia that they're meaningless.Could be a supply chain shortage:
Nicaragua: leather shortage causes footwear prices to soar by up to 80%
The Nicaraguan Chamber of Leather and Footwear reported that footwear prices rose by 40% at the beginning of the year and another similar increase is in the pipeline, resulting in an 80% price increase for a pair of leather shoeswww.worldfootwear.comImport inputs shortage paralyzes leather industry output - Capital Newspaper

Leather is a byproduct of the meatpacking industry. Those cows are already dead as food, they aren't killed for the leather. You're suggesting throwing out that part instead of using it, seems actually worse IMO.Would be nice not to chop up animals so our phone can wear their skin. really.
Haha just posted this same thought… totally agreeLeather is a byproduct of the meatpacking industry. Those cows are already dead as food, they aren't killed for the leather. You're suggesting throwing out that part instead of using it, seems actually worse IMO.
For as much attention to detail as their reputation implies, the 'hon' has not aged wellDo you guys remember iPhone 5c cases?
I wish I could. I rarely dropped my 11 Pro, but once I moved on to the 13 and 14 Pro I have to use a case as I drop it often due to its weight.Get rid of them all for all I care. #NoCaseHere
