It will definitely work, and I don't think you'll see that much of a performance drop with the Rosetta emulation. It may take a little extra time to open up Word or Excel, but once it gets going any loss in performance won't be substantial. I think you'll be happy with the new MBP!

This should be interesting, and the prices will be interesting to see. To be a viable solution for schools they will need to keep the price down on their low end MacBook. That means not going over $1000 on the low end (so it would be like $899 for the schools with the education discount). Of course there need to be a high end model to, this would be nice, because then Apple wouldn't have to worry about a 12-inch MBP, and rather could just have the High-End 13inch MacBook, and as others have pointed out they would like this too.

That kind of iBook line would fit me prefectly, I could get a high-end iBook! But I would like a larger sized monitor.

I graduate this year, but it will be interesting to see what my school gets in means of new technology. I think are Mobile lab is about ready to be replaced, currently we have 12-inch iBook G3's. Talk is those will be going to PC machines (I am glad I won't be around).

Our school just dumped (yes dumped, not sold, not given away, but dumped) 20-30 G4 iMacs and replaced them with Dell's. This was in a business department that should really be running windows, but they should have given them to me. (stupid consumer right laws mean they cant give them away or sell them)

YThis is typical when a new size DIMM hits the market, the specs might say it's available, but it's not listed in the BTO menu on the web store.

i found other information earlier, but the first modules are selling at macmall and such. $330. i will buy one a little after i buy my computer. 4GB of RAM makes me a happy man.
