I’m holding out for a potential update to the base iPad ($329). I’m hoping between now and WWDC they bump the specs.

I’d like a SoC update and a bump to 64GB at that base price. Any other updates will be nice, but aren’t as important to me. Heck, I’ll even be happy if it’s only a bump in the storage. 32GB is just too low for my needs.

If the storage update doesn’t happen I don’t know if I’ll get an iPad. I’ll wait until later in the year or next year and get a cheaper Android device while I wait. I want this one mainly for media consumption. I also want an iPad for all the other apps and games that either aren’t on Android or won’t run nearly as well or hold up for as long as they would on iPad.

A true SE2 like this design would have been the best thing since the introduction of the first iPhone:
View attachment 894782

It would have meant the first milestone for the Tim-Cook-Era, he could have said: "look, this is my product, this exists because of me, I can be CEO of Apple, I am fit for that job!"

Instead, all we see is total failure. Uninspiring lame products, that could also have the logo of Samsung, LG or Huawai, nobody would notice, but not Apple.

Apple was a company with truly beautiful products, now it is a generic company that lives on the glory of past days...

The Financial reports would disagree...

The products Apple produce are great and this is shown in how many they sell

Ever since we learned that the “SE2” will bear no resemblance to the SE (i.e. no 4” screen) my interest in this device has diminished to, well, zero. Sad face. At least my 11 Pro has a ridiculously good camera.

I'm genuinely curious to know why you have interest in the SE devices if you already have an 11 Pro? Not sniping.. just understanding the use case.

For me personally, news about a new SE that's not going with that claustrophobically small display, when I have a very tired iPhone 7 waiting to be replaced but don't want to spend iPhone XR or 11/11 Pro money is great news.

I guess you can't please everyone. The more devices, the more picky people are. It was so much easier when it was just.. iPhone. The one model! :)

I will look forward to the Media Event, though the allure of Apple products is deminishing.

I still love my iMac, though I cant upgrade whilst they still support HDD in new machines (at those prices).

I am in the market for two ATVs, have 4 ATV 4Ks, but holding out for a newer model. I like ATV, shame its not allowed to have a browser. I dont watch Apples TV shows, but the box itself is useful.

Still like my iPhone, I have come to terms with the restrictions Apple places on it and have given up "fighting the system". Will probably get an iPhone 11 Pro Max when the next phone is released, or the new phone if its a huge improvement on the 11 Pro.

I like my Apple Watch S5, again a powerful device that could do so much more, but I havent got the energy to try to find work arounds or keep sending suggestions to Apple, so for me I cant see myself upgrading the watch any time soon.

iPad Pro, have the original 9.7", just read some web pages and watch some videos, my partner recently bought me the top of the line 12.9 IPP, I thanked her, but got her to return it. Never going to get the monies worth out of it. Dont see me getting a new iPad in the next few years.

Homekit, gave up waiting for good products. Jumped in with Ring, Nest, Sonoff, Sonos etc. Some of the tech I got is great, cheap, flexible, capable and so easy to setup and use.

Is this really going to be hodgepodge of announcements?

iPhone 9/SE2
iPad Pro
Tile trackers
13-inch MacBook revamp
iMac?

I don't know. Sounds like there are too many irons in the fire to put them all in one show like this. It would take a few hours to go over everything. And then there's the toll being taken on the coronavirus outbreak.

Zero chance, the current one is isn’t even five months old, and the education model isn’t going to get a 64GB base. Fall at the earliest, 32GB.

This is believable, but that’s pretty far out to have a report this early.

Nonetheless, it’s obvious a ‘spring keynote is coming, and rightfully so, because Apple probably wants to keep certain products separated away from each other, and a smaller/entry-level iPhone would gain its own attraction versus having to compete being announced in September against the more ‘expensive’ iPhone models.

Maybe we might even see something like the ‘Apple tags’ as a bonus.

Revving my bank account for that 13 inch MBP!

Got liquid spilled on my 2012 (RIP) and been holding off for a while.

Exactly, no SSD as standard, no purchase fom me. Got a top of the line late 2012 Mac mini with SSD recently for cheap, so if the new iMacs dont have SSD as standard (without a huge price increase), I have a back up unit, so I wont be too nervous cracking open my late 2013 27" iMac and putting in an SSD and maybe an uprated CPU.

they don’t really need to increase the price to ship a 500g SSD as standard. It’s just greed.

TBF the other dude’s wish list is doable at the current price points; it’s just a complete lack of will from Cook whilst people are willing to be milked over the long term.

my 2011 iMac has just finally died (HDD) and I’m limping along on USB2 bootable drive for now. And even though it is annoying, it’s way less annoying that giving Tim Cook close to three grand for sub standard hardware (and without bragging, it’s not about affordability but the point).

the GPU in my 2011 iMac has carked it. I am getting by with iPad Pro and my daughters MBA. The price/value equation of the iMac is too poor at the moment to buy a new one.

Exactly, for a lot of us its not about affordability, its like any other sensible purchase - value for money. For me, non essential purchases have to do one of the following -

Make me money,
Save me money,
Save me work and or time,
Give me immense enjoyment

At a value for money / market rate.

I dont believe stock iMacs represent value for money (slow HDD), and thats without the additional worry of a mechanical drive fixed inside a glued together unit failing.

Is this really going to be a special event rather than a week of press releases?

iPhone SE2 - 2017 casing with non-new inside (worse camera than 11 /11Pro)

iPad Pro update - sounds like it's going to be an A13X and the camera system from the Pro Max (i.e. faster, but same camera that's been demonstrated on-stage before) - sounds like the true 3D sensing features are for the next model

MBP 13 - main feature is likely to be a keyboard that works - not something Apple will want to shout about

MBA - no rumours around a new design so most likely a spec-bump

Apple TV - sketchy rumours and only upgate would be a chip and HDMI 2.1 which while useful (QMS eliminates the black screen when switching modes, VRR makes games smoother) doesn't make for the most exciting presentation

Air Tags - would actually be good to see, but surely can't carry an event by themselves

I hope in Metal API support release date from major 3d software houses (redshift, autodesk, maxon, Adobe, otoy, sidefx). Imac Pro redesign with real support for GPUs on macOS

Let's hope Apple has the wisdom to listen to its customers in this case. I finally got the XR to replace my SE, but not after realizing a new SE was not coming. The XR is fantastic, but TOO big to use easily with one hand. I miss that about the SE. And I don't like the rounded edge design of current iPhones.

The upcoming 5.4" iPhone 12 should hit the sweet spot for those XR/11 owners such as myself who have been hoping for a current gen phone with a smaller body.

Even if this rumoured SE 2 has a bigger screen I don’t think it’s a write-off. I’m sure many will still want it. All phones nowadays are bigger. They just are.

It’s not to say that they shouldn’t be small and there isn’t a market for smaller devices but the masses are obviously quite content with the bigger option.

The sheer amount of people that have a Plus or Max version iPhone both in the street and apparently online like these forums shows there is a noticeable sway towards bigger screens.

The iPhone 4 and 5 type phones were great but times change.

Yeah, I'll probably look into getting the phone for my mother as she just wants something inexpensive, but my hopes for a proper iPhone SE followup are fading with each passing day.

I don't think you are being realistic here.
I don't think the tech is ready/feasible for such a small package. FaceID takes a lot of physical space, bigger screen draws more power and the form is thinner so how do you solve that?
The reason why X onwards are bigger and thicker is because of all the tech requiring bigger battery etc.

Sure you can do something you posted below but the battery life would be so poor that you would be the first one coming here complaining how it doesn't even last till lunch.

Sometimes I'm surprised how often people don't stop and think for a second. There is always a reason for for something not to be done certain way. In this case I think its all what I've described above that is preventing us from having what the image shows.

Please think about these things next time you go on a silly blast that is really unwarranted.

Not that far-fetched when you consider the now ill-fate Essential phone was...essentially the same thickness as an iPhone SE. And it was bezel-free. Sure it was larger and ran Android, but when a startup can produce it, I'm sure Apple can...but won't.

An iMac redesign with larger screens and slimmer bezels, Face ID, Tx Security Chip, NAVI graphics, flash storage, True Tone Display, 802.11ax Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, updated thermal architecture and better speakers.View attachment 894775

That's EXACTLY what I am looking for in order to buy an iMac..Ive never owned an iMac before but getting something like this Id buy it right away

Had to look that one up. Well, you've answer yourself why it can't be done (for now).
Essential phone is much bigger overall and with that its super easy to put good batter etc.
So, my point is still valid. SE is too small to be a good phone with e2e display, faceID etc. Those components take physical space away from battery etc.
In few years time, sure, lets do that. Right now? unlikely otherwise why would the XR&11 be so thick!

What the heck is that unattributed Apple artwork?

It's Apple event artwork! From Brooklyn! I love Andy Rementer's stuff.

Living upstate I've of course heard of highways to nowhere (the tag line once assigned to I-88) but in the cited piece of art I kinda liked that bridge to and from "nowhere"... At first glance however, I thought it was meant to be a hydraulic-lift parking facility.

Andy got the look of a water tower right on the money. I had a birds-eye view of a lot of them from some of the places I worked in Manhattan over the years. Lots of city news outlets have written up the history and ongoing use of those water tanks, and so here for the curious is one of them.
