Maybe they will announce GarageBand for iPad.

I mean, it has a mic for recording scratch tracks, could sell loops as in app purchases, and could have a touchscreen midi keyboard.

Sounds cool to me!

That would be amazing!

I really can't picture iTV minus on-board storage coming without SOME way to get some local storage: USB port, NAS capable, etc. It can't be an all in-the-cloud device. It doesn't make sense to have individuals uploading their own content to the cloud then downloading it back to the iTV for viewing.

I'll be surprised if it hits and lacks some local storage option (I would guess that lack of bigger local storage is probably the #2 or #3 gripe about the existing Apple TV; hopefully, Apple listened and decided to address the top 2+ gripes this time... 4 years later). My bet is via USB, but I'm hopeful for NAS too.

picture this: streaming.

as for local storage, I would bet on a new timecapsule that provides caching of media from a streaming cloud service and/or syncing of locally created media (it's simply mirroring your mac's music and video folders... think about it, you could use the basic time capsule backup files as your service.).

Call me crazy, but apple allowing a non-apple built capability (NAS or a USB connected external drive) seems silly for a HW company.

AppleTV with 1080p and external storage support. That's all!
I am so easy to please. ;)

I'm even easier to please... Just an ATV with external storage support would be nice ;) although the iOS / app store ideas are seriously growing on me.... I see a whole world of possibilities there, I'm just not sure apple are that committed to the atv project to go that far... :(

My best guess for what gonna go down in a week's time.

Upgraded iPod Touch

-Retina Display
-Two Cameras with Flash
-16, 32, and 64GB sizes
-Gyroscopic Sensor
-The A4 Processor
-Facetime through E-mail
-Built in Mic

UNLIKELY BUT COULD HAPPEN

-Very small price decrease ($179, $279, $379)

Upgraded iPod Nano or Shuffle

-Touchscreen Nano or Shuffle

Other things that could happen but I wouldn't count on it.

iTV announcement
Some new accessories.

Those are my guesses.

if theres a USB port people could store stuff on USN flash drives and exen external drives.

The problem you kids need to understand about streaming is while its all great, its only good if you have a fast internet connection. I have fios so i'm all good, but not everyone has fast internet.

I think the two dots farther up on the neck represent the new iPod Touch and Nano...

Interesting speculation, but here's a guitar player's take: The 2 dots "further up the neck" idicate that is the 13th fret. On every guitar (that I've ever played/owned) odd frets are dotted starting at the 5th fret and the 13th fret has two dots.

Now, what could be more exciting than a new Apple TV? Well lots of things, really:

1. 64 bit Carbon-free iTunes
2. 64 bit iLife '11 suite
3. The new mystery iLife application whatever it may be.
4. iOS 4.1 update
5. iLife for iPad maybe?
6. Mac OSX 10.6.X Software Update

And there you go! Six things that are more exciting/interesting than the new Apple TV. Of course, I'm quite open to have my mind changed once I see what gets announced!:D

Hey that is great! Only thing missing is iTunes X :)

I wonder if iLife 2011 will ditch the discs prompting people to buy the software digitally and download it via iTunes?

another thought. What if iTunes gets rewriten and gets a new name? Since itunes is more then just music.

Wow, one of the most probable event.... I would just add:

- The new iLife app could be about "Graphic & Design", such an iDesign, to create graphic content to be used in HTML5 webpage, iTunes LP, App

- iTunes update to work with iTunes.com (iTunes X might comes with 10.7)

- iChat features to call FaceTime through email.... now connected to any Macs too

- Game Center update, will also be accessible by the Apple TV

Spid

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

I think it would be amazing if, instead of a new $99 Apple TV/iTV, they released a $99 accessory dock for iOS devices that used the device's CPU to decode media streamed from iTunes/the cloud and push it to the TV via HDMI.

if it's lady gaga it'll be Teeth hahahaha because the apple symbol :apple: has a "bite" in it :D

something exiting but still rockish it's safe .... or it could be Millionaire
i can here it now "I wanna be a millionaire so freak'n baaaad

haha what

haha no they remake their own version "apple is a multi-billionaire compannnnyy, They can make all the things microsoft never had!!!!":D

Most likely Apple would provide A/V outputs for legacy devices: component video, composite video, RCA stereo. They'd probably include an Ethernet port for people who prefer wired networking. Thus, it is likely to be similar in width and height to the current Apple TV.

If they restrict it solely to people using HDMI-only connections and WiFi networking, they reduce the number of potential customers. I don't see it happening. There is little benefit to miniaturizing this device when it'll be used in a home theater environment.

True, but that doesn't count up to $99 worth of apple hardware.

So maybe the $99 is not targeting the home theater environment but everyday iphone/ipod/ipad users with broadband, wifi and a big screen with free hdmi port? And for another $29 I'm sure Apple with provide a composite/stereo cable so some of the legacy home-theater owners can enjoy it too :D

I am holding out for iLife '11. Although this means I will be tempted to purchase it when I just got my MBP a month ago. I am guessing there would be no free upgrades to recent purchasers?

I like this. Everyone gets MobileMe, and that would open more opportunities for FaceTime. It could be web based. That way anyone could use it, and have a FaceTime conversation.

After reading this thread I though I would have been the only one to remember this. I can say that I am somewhat excited for it. I still don't fully understand the point of it though

well point of it is: What are the 2 ways you can mulitplayer with other ios device users??? 1.bluetooth(if enabled) and 2.Over local wi-fi.

what this is gonna is to allow multiplayer ONLINE, kinda like xbox live or PSN.... it will probably be free though unlike xbox live

I can't WAIT to see how many upset and/or disappointed fans there will be when this even is over. You guys have got so much **** listed and high expectations, it's unbelievable. I just can't wait for the CHAOS next wednesday.

On the other hand, if the iPod Classic gets eliminated from the iPod lineup when they could change the look upgrade hard drive or whatever, I WILL RANT all day Wednesday and blame it these idiots who believe it will be discontinued and thanking them for trying to be so creative to get rid of it.

Actually, cross off my desire for a 7 inch iPad on the 1st...subscription based iTunes would be a God-send.

In the past, does Apple release the refreshed iPods the same day?

What about their UK Apple website launch day? Does it usually coincide with the US launch?

I agree, I think we'll see is new iPods, iOS 4.1, iTV, and iTunes 10 (or X if it's 64-bit) with the rumored 99 cent TV shows. No iWork, no iLife, no iTunes.com streaming.
