Maybe they will announce GarageBand for iPad.
I mean, it has a mic for recording scratch tracks, could sell loops as in app purchases, and could have a touchscreen midi keyboard.
Sounds cool to me!
I really can't picture iTV minus on-board storage coming without SOME way to get some local storage: USB port, NAS capable, etc. It can't be an all in-the-cloud device. It doesn't make sense to have individuals uploading their own content to the cloud then downloading it back to the iTV for viewing.
I'll be surprised if it hits and lacks some local storage option (I would guess that lack of bigger local storage is probably the #2 or #3 gripe about the existing Apple TV; hopefully, Apple listened and decided to address the top 2+ gripes this time... 4 years later). My bet is via USB, but I'm hopeful for NAS too.
AppleTV with 1080p and external storage support. That's all!
I am so easy to please.![]()
picture this: streaming.
as for local storage, I would bet on a new timecapsule that provides caching of media from a streaming cloud service and/or syncing of locally created media (it's simply mirroring your mac's music and video folders... think about it, you could use the basic time capsule backup files as your service.).
Call me crazy, but apple allowing a non-apple built capability (NAS or a USB connected external drive) seems silly for a HW company.
I think the two dots farther up on the neck represent the new iPod Touch and Nano...

This whole thing could be the size of a match box and could get its power from the HDMI port, which i believe can supply up to +5 V Power (max 50 mA). When plugged you wouldn't even know it existed

Most likely Apple would provide A/V outputs for legacy devices: component video, composite video, RCA stereo. They'd probably include an Ethernet port for people who prefer wired networking. Thus, it is likely to be similar in width and height to the current Apple TV.
If they restrict it solely to people using HDMI-only connections and WiFi networking, they reduce the number of potential customers. I don't see it happening. There is little benefit to miniaturizing this device when it'll be used in a home theater environment.
I like this. Everyone gets MobileMe, and that would open more opportunities for FaceTime. It could be web based. That way anyone could use it, and have a FaceTime conversation.
After reading this thread I though I would have been the only one to remember this. I can say that I am somewhat excited for it. I still don't fully understand the point of it though
I can't WAIT to see how many upset and/or disappointed fans there will be when this even is over. You guys have got so much **** listed and high expectations, it's unbelievable. I just can't wait for the CHAOS next wednesday.
