Hey Apple....

PLEASE let me rearrange the order of channels in the mixer that I DONT want in my arrange window!!!

best,
SvK

Well, it's not like their currently software will stop working.

FCP X is mentioned again and again that it's completely rebuilt, with many features in the pipeline.

Ok. We keep hearing that over and over but I don't buy partial products with a dealer promise to make them full some day. Thats not how it works.

I don't see this as an App Store release unless they remove all the virtual instruments and loops. That content is close to 70gigs! That is part of what made logic such a good value. Remove that, and they will need to lower the cost of Logic a whole lot!

They do the same thing they did for final cut. After you install the next time you run software update the pro content comes up

There is one thing I would love to have in LPX that I have never seen anyone talk about.

A vertical piano roll...so you see the keys like you would playing a real keyboard instrument.

Why am I the only person in the world thinking of that? After years of guitar hero (never played it myself though) at least someone should consider the idea.

Just a button to turn it 90 CCW?..

That would be way cool..better run and get a patent...

NOPE, just saying that not everybody uses logic for digital music production. (although, technically what i do does count as 'digita' since its on a computer.) I use microphones and record physical instruments like drums, guitars and vocals. It would be nice to have a screen preset to completely hide all options that are not used when RECORDING and mixing music.

What is in your way?

Maybe you should take a look at Pro Tools. Have been using it a bit the last weeks (so i have a lifeboat in the future if aple screws up Logic). It looks a bit more...pure when it comes to mixing and recording I think.

Sorry for bad typing. Im using steve jobs "revolutionary ipad with touch technology that will replace all computers in the near future". Well, not mine! This thing is a plate of ****** for writing...

I was a protools user before switching to logic. Not planning on switching back.

Quite clear that none of you are regular Logic users considering the comments you are making. Firstly, Logic has already need dumbed down when Apple took over for version 8. Sure they will want to feature better integration and deliver at a cheaper price point but there are genuine competitors now that Apple actually have to work hard to stave off. Bear in mind that much of the original Emagic team are still working on Logic so it will still retain it's depth even if it is encased in a simpler interface.
Apple needs to keep things as they are and add some proper 'on the fly' time stretching and pitching abilities like Live and to a lesser degree, Tools. They clearly had the tech in Logic 9 with varispeed but didn't implement it fully. Worst case scenario I'll just stick with 9 and use Live, Tools, Reason and Cubase more often.
Logic Pro X and a new Mac Pro please!

Amen. I actual had to do a double take as I thought I already commented. Why in the world are people who can't figure out logic paying for such a program? It used to take books folks. It isn't intuitive because it is so powerful. The more intuitive they make it, the less powerful. No one has been able to fix that stalemate unfortunately hard as Apple tries. Something like MaxDSP is beyond powerful but totally hard to get into. I wish people would start learning more instead of expecting to push a big "talent" button. These day's our workforce is just button pushing dullards. Please stop using pro applications that you complain are too hard. If they are too hard, look elsewhere. This is why Garageband exists. What do you even think you would need Logic for? Creating beats? Please.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean, you can do that. Empty projects do not contain anything in the environment layer that you do not put there. I always start with a blank arrange and add what I need so that I don't have anything in my project that isn't needed.

But all the UI elements like menu options, tools, window tabs and right click items still show.

I get where you are going. You're right, there really isn't much in Logic that allows that level of customization. Personally it doesn't really cause me any major frustration because I use keyboard shortcuts for most everything. I really can't think of any programs that I use right now that really let you custom those options to any major degree either. There are likely some out there.

Just bought Logic Studio for £119 on student discount... knew this would happen!!

Ah well, as a guitarist, the most I use the Studio bundle for is Logic (production, mixing, mastering and trying out different sounds in PedalBoard). I tend to use MainStage with TouchOSC for my synth sections. If I ever gig using my MBP for effects, I tend to use AmpliTube for the Whammy pedal model or MainStage for the envelope filter.

I'll still be getting a PDF of the manual for LPX when it comes out, so I'm ready for the transition at least!

As an end-note... I wonder if MainStage will be sold as a separate app, with SoundWave being killed off and WaveBurner being built-in?

A buddy of mine mentioned he saw some screenies of the X interface. I can't seem to locate any. Does anyone know if pics have been posted anywhere?

I need this. I hope it's not too expensive.. Lion messed up my version of logic 8. I couldnt use it anymore. thank god i had a copy of logic express 9 that i had laying around. I ended up working from that....

Hopefully Logic adds some more sounds and loops i love those...

Interestingly enough, all the Logic effects are in FCPX. I would love to see the option for FCPX style slip editing and it's content management system in Logic. Both are better than Logic's methods in a variety of situations.

Lotsa people with broken pattern recognition systems in this thread. GB and Logic already share the same guts. Apple would gain nothing by re-writting its "pro" app first in this case. When they rewrite GB expect changes in Logic.
One thing they should do in X is to make a control surface to the iPad. There are only 3.part apps out there, and everyone is terrible.

Oh, how i would love to tweak the graphical EQ on the iPad!! Or control the mixer, audio spectrometer showing,...
It's called TouchOSC and it's been in Logic for a bit now. Yes, it can be improved, but seriously do you even use Logic?

If this dumbing down crap happens ...

...I will stop using logic. I will move to avid/pro tools for my main DAW. And continue using ableton along side it.

Fingers crossed

I'm hoping that Apple have been scared with the reaction to final cut and are holding off with logic X so they get it right. There's great potential there if they consider features from soundtrack pro which will no longer be available. There's some other great suggestions being made hear I hope Apple are taking notice.

Still I'm going to hope for the best outcome. I find it easier to be creative with logic vs other applications. It'll be really sad if Logic takes a backward step as well!

I think that is a rumor. Come on! I have been reading about it for ages.

It's obvious Apple will update the software. It will be called "Logic X" (they're dropping all the Pros... PUN INTENDED)

Here's my 2 cents - Take FCX - They dropped the price, unified the UI to pave the way for Mountain Lion, took out many "complicated" (LOL) features and rushed to release so they could cash in twice... They thought.. "Wait this could work.. it will attract more "Prosumers" than it will lose "Professionals" since the working people can just stick with FC Studio 3. We'll cash in once on the prosumers, then put all the missing features back in and cash in again! It's perfect!!!" Pretty obvious that they learned that this b___ move upset many professional users, many of which have been fiercely loyal to Apple since the IIe.

Then they looked at Logic X and thought... hrm. We were planning on doing the same thing to Logic... we are close to launching a stable product with missing features, but it would upset the actual working professionals if we sell an "upgrade" that is, technically speaking, a downgrade. We better take our time, add all the features in, and charge a little more.
