Finally a well requested feature. And Apple was always saying they would never go down that path. Amen 🙏

I’m guessing this service is going to be really light on the music from the 1920s and 1930s like big band and swing, which I really enjoy.
As they’re doing this computationally, if the music has lyrics it should be included.
Here’s one
and another

Now do the same for musical instruments so we have decent backing tracks for guitar, bass, etc.

Requires iPhone 12 or newer :troll:
Not compatible on any MacBooks

Im expecting this in iOS 16.2 Beta 5 tbh, which will come today.

Would be cool if Apple could allow song producers to upload versions of their songs without the vocals in addition to slightly removing the vocals.
Another example of how iOS is a priority for Apple. macOS gets the afterthought few months/years later, and few made it to Windows decades later LOL.

this sounds like a good start… but what about full karaoke function? Bluetooth microphones and reverb effects and more on that? Yeah would be great to get appletv to be a full karaoke solution with the right stereo. It’s popular fun.

How do you use it? I can’t see it? Unless it’s US only.
It says it’ll be available worldwide upon the release of 16.2, so if it’s not available in your country yet, it still might be coming as this is still the beta release for now.

Comparing Apple Music’s method against others like Djay and online ones (which may use the same algorithm?), Apple appears to focus on keeping the music sounding “musical” even if it means that the shadow of the vocals still remain. And, for the intended purpose (someone singing over it, instead of trying to pull out pristine non-vocal stems) that shadow isn’t noticed as much.
