Apple is working with German confectionary brand Ritter Sport to offer a unique Apple Music promotion.

apple-music-ritter-sport.jpeg

The collaboration, branded as "Limited Edition Ritter Sport x Apple Music," involves promoting iconic albums on Ritter Sport's iconic 100g square chocolate bars (via Macerkopf). There will be a QR code on the back of each bar that links directly to the album on Apple Music and provides a free trial subscription to the service.

Ritter Sport and Apple Music have selected five albums that have shaped German music history across different genres, including Cro's "RAOP," Marteria's "Happy for the Future II," Scorpions' "Crazy World," Sarah Connor's "Mother Tongue," and Helene Fischer's "Farbenspiel," for the series. They are each available on Apple Music in Dolby Atmos.

The promotion begins on Monday, March 2 in Germany, when the chocolate bars will begin to appear in stores across the country. Each bar costs €1.99 and they will be available for a limited time only.

I guess when you have <40% of the mobile phone market (unlike >60% in US) you run out of ways to “notify” people of their free Apple Music trial a lot quicker 😁

Apparently, German music history didn't start until 1990.

Scorpions - Crazy World : released in 1990
Cro - RAOP : released in 2012
Helene Fischer – Farbenspiel : released in 2013
Marteria – Zum Glück In Die Zukunft II : released in 2014
Sarah Connor – Muttersprache : released in 2015

Not one German industrial music artist/band such as Einstürzende Neubauten, KMFDM, Rammstein, or Die Krupps. 🙄

No Kraftwerk, Neu, Nina Hagen, DAF etc. When Mutti Merkel retired from destroying Europe she chose a send off with a Nina Hagen song.

Should have celebrated Doro Pesch, legendary figure for women in heavy metal. A HUGE figure that’s still famous across Germany…definitely bizarre that there’s no mention of Kraftwerk for this promotion. I was fortunate enough to see them perform and it wasn’t a concert, it was an experience

I will essentially GUARANTEE you that there is going to be a GOLDEN TICKET promotion with this.. get a free song inside, but maybe get a GOLDEN TICKET to visit the spaceship, free iphone, free macbook, etc.. 100%.

It’s got WillyWonka written all over it.

You should listen to more music then, there's plenty of great stuff out there still (same as terrible music, just like any other time period).

Based on the image I thought there'd be a little speaker to hear the music at first lol
Music today is the best that it's ever been! Sure, if we're talking Top 40 anything, it's extremely bland and derivative, beyond awful really, but outside the mainstream it's an endless bounty. I'm really glad I'm not one of those older people who is totally stuck on the music of his youth. I'm in my 50s and rarely listen to anything I listened to when I was a teen or in my 20s. At a minimum I find several new albums each week to check out. There are so many interesting artists and genres and mashups happening. I love today's music!
