I still remember the iTunes Promo with Coca Cola like nearly 20 (?) years ago (I lost track of time). The bottle cap had a code inside and it would give you iTunes credits to buy a single song. It was so much fun before streaming was a thing! I got so much free music that way as a teenager

WANT! And all the other flavours too. Maybe it's prediction to a foldable iPhone, since you have to break a package of Ritter sport in the middle to open it.

Apparently, German music history didn't start until 1990.

Scorpions - Crazy World : released in 1990
Cro - RAOP : released in 2012
Helene Fischer – Farbenspiel : released in 2013
Marteria – Zum Glück In Die Zukunft II : released in 2014
Sarah Connor – Muttersprache : released in 2015

Not one German industrial music artist/band such as Einstürzende Neubauten, KMFDM, Rammstein, or Die Krupps. 🙄

I was actually surprised it isn't more recent artists like Apache, Nina Chuba, Ayliva or dare I saw it, even Tokio Hotel 😅

Also, if they *really* wanted to go for albums or artists that shaped German music history, they should have included Kraftwerk, Fehlfarben, and Can or Tangerine Dream.

In truth, though, they probably simply managed to get the okay for a couple of relatively recent albums, and the marketing people had to come up with some kind of justification for the selection.

You know who’s big in Germany?

David Hasselhoff

Start your Hoff journey with this gem,

  • Knight Rider (1982): His first album, featuring themes from the popular TV show.

Also remember that the code could be discovered by holding a Pepsi bottle at a specific angle. I do. Spent quite a bit of time in the local QFC working thru the Pepsi bottles to only purchase "winners" thereby greatly increasing my nascient iTunes library. That plus the frequent iTunes free song download was pretty cool. Still got all the "winners". Some pretty good artists go their start this way. Old times... Thanks for the memory. NSC

I always find promotional stuff like this fascinating.

I think there was another pepsi promo a couple years ago that offered AM trial qr codes on bottles, but iirc it was some kind of colab with Bad Bunny. There was an article here on MR about it.

I also remember the pepsi iTunes songs promo -- the second one in 2005. I only got one song, but couldn't redeem it because something messed up when I tried redeeming it (I had to log into my account on a friend's computer to do it). I razzed my friend on Windows messenger bc she kept winning free songs. lol I remember they also gave away a bunch of iPod minis that were Pepsi branded. Anyone get one of those?

I also remember another promo with colleges, where if you bought so many ice cream bars you would get a code to redeem for a free song on iTunes. I do remember the song I used my code to get, but I can't find any info about the promo anywhere now. I think it was cerca early 2006. Anyone else remember it?

I may still have one of the yellow cap.

Finally some love for EarPods.
I use the USB-C EarPods at work even with multiple AirPods Pro in front of me.

Does this mean that the next time Tim Cook gets angry and acts like a sociopath by giving a long and cold silent stare at an employee, he will simultaneously be eating a chocolate bar instead of his usual energy bar?

Music choice is fun—never right or wrong. Whatever you like is okay.

As a person who remembers the original release of MacArthur Park by Richard Harris, I was pleasantly surprised when skater Alysa Liu choose the later-leased version by Donna Summers for her free-skating performance at the Olympics.

The point being, music selection is personal and fun, even for Apple and friends.

In your experience, has Apple Music ever been anything but mainstream pop? If it’s not Tay-Tay or U2 (iykyk) it’s deep underground LOL
