I don't believe on these lists.

Of course, because it is culturally canceled for something he didn't do it, we ain't going to see Michael Jackson's "Thriller" even on Top 50.

Rolling Stone already did it putting him only on the #80 in the list of 100 singers of all time, and even arguing that's was the reason.

Dumpster fire on the way. Who is going to pick? The Apple team who is what 25-35 years old. No idea what is good or bad. Like someone said get the popcorn this will be fun to watch. First 10 Hotel California #99?

I like these top 100 lists! They often open my eyes to new and excellent music. My prediction for nr. 1: What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye

100 greatest albums of all time (music that should be known even in the jungles of Papua New Guinea), and I already recognize only a few albums from the list mentioned.

Usher in the top 100 albums of all time??!?!
Rage Against the Machine? (cool album, don't get me wrong, but not top 100 material).

Only narrowing this list down to Metal or Pop would be hard...let alone all music genres.

I don’t really care about the order of ranking, as long as the list has some great music. Ranking order is highly subjective and not worth losing mind. Hotel California is one of my favorites, hope California dreaming makes the list too.

Absolutely. The album I've played more than any other is Amarok by Mike Oldfield. Completely uncommercial, 60 minutes long, and recorded by a musical genius. But guaranteed not to appear anywhere in this list!
Hergest Ridge is my favourite from Oldfield!
Amarok is still pretty cool, though!

A realistic 100 best albums of all time - even if restricted to pop or chart music (top 40 albums, say, across all countries) is going to have firm global popular and critical favourites in it. It'll be mostly older music. You're going to see Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, The Beatles, maybe (at a push) a Queen album.... Such would be the bar for quality and logetivity for a 100 best of all time in any country on Earth.

But the idea that we've already had Usher and Solange. Apple mustn't think much of their audience.

Any guesses for an Apple approved 'best album of all time'. Will it be by The Beatles, Taylor Swift or U2?
Probably Dark Side of the Moon.

Funny how, as a Pink Floyd enthusiast, I have always found Dark Side and The Wall to be overrated.
Great albums, especially the former, but I think Pink Floyd from 1970-1971 (Atom Heart Mother-Meddle) are unbeaten.

Highly subjective since it depends on people’s taste. Some might want to include classical music, others (c)rap.

Why not put the two most sold albums in the year for the last 50 years? Something like that.

You want to exclude one hit wonders.

A lot of the best music ever made is unknown to most people
Yep, Johann Sebastian Bach died in 1750 and 250 years later his music is played on the radio every single day around the world. In another 250 years his music will still be played every day, but let's see if we’re still hearing Taylor Swift’s tunes. I get it, contemporary musicians are necessary for the culture during their times in reflecting the mood of the people. But as the generations pass their music usually goes with them. Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Stravinsky, Debussy and others are immortal and prime examples of the very best the human species has to offer.

It remains likely that Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu will join them.
