No, I applied for tickets using the iOS Music app and it worked fine. I haven't yet activated my Apple Music free trial.
Nope, not got me.

I get similar on my PC - the link just takes me to the download page for iTunes, even though I'm running 12.2.2.25 (with Apple Music). However, it works fine on my Mac. I'm guessing they just messed up their version check to allow the Mac version but forgot the Windows version. But you're not missing anything as the application process seems to be broken for now anyway.

Those screen shots are from my Mac but I'm getting the same result on my work PC.

That's good to hear they are not making it a members only promotion.

I get the same error message from the iOS Music app.

Great! - Having the festival back for another year is always absolutely brilliant..

..but has anybody read the T&Cs for entering? 120 Prize of (2) two tickets per event?
So the same [if not more] people will now be applying for two thirds less shows... and we can only win 240 tickets each night?

At a venue that can hold almost 2000 people? That means iTunes and all its affiliates/media will be getting the rest.

Hardly a fan experience is it?!

Pro tip: 9th (-ish) of September, release of the new :apple:TV. 19th of September, start of Apple Music Festival, broadcast to new :apple:TVs in 4K. From the press release: "Customers can enjoy the Apple Music Festival ... in stunning HD with Apple TV®." Just sayin'.

3,300 standing. 1,700 seated according to Wiki, still a small venue in most regards. At least they're not doing it at the Koko anymore, or The Electric Ballroom (probably one of the best venues, but so tiny)

Taylor Swift to headline one night surely??

EDIT: I am a little disappointed its not a 30 day affair, but hope we get more music variety from artists like, The Fray, Gregory Porter, Kygo, Foo Fighters, AC/DC ETC..

Apple MUSIC Festival - so why is 1 Direction there?

Because they are a huge draw and have a monster fan base. Hey, it ain't my kind of music but unless you've been on a different planet recently, they are pretty big right now. Just saying.

It's Pharrell Williams that doesn't make sense. Hasn't he milked his one hit wonder status enough? My goodness. Remember when you had to make a lot of good songs over a long time to be relevant? Those days are gone. One pop song and somehow you're enshrined as a super star. Bleh.

We wanted to do something really special for music fans this year," said Eddy Cue,

What's special about the most boring line up in years? I want Arcade Fire and Lana Del Rey.

Where can I find the full list with all the artists? I just want to know if Arctic Monkeys is on the list.

I agree completely. Just for once I would love to see new talents being pushed and supported by the Festival series than pouring yet more fame and money into the cup of mainstream stars. But I might be missing the point of iTunes Festival completely. Maybe it is just that: A mainstream marketing event for the music industry and iTunes.

Spot on. It's also that music in general needs to remember harmony. And beauty.

Can someone make an Eddy Cue Quote Generator?

For those complaining about Pharrell, it could have been worse, they could have booked Robin Thicke. Always look on the bright side of death! Pharrell is there most probably thanks to "Freedom". Surprised Dr Dre and Nine Inch Nails haven't been added to the line up yet.

"The lineup is designed to be diverse and have a wide appeal, not necessarily just to your specific personal demographic!"

Yep.
this is by definition what I call mainstream. Thanks for supporting my point sir.

How do you know for what purpose and why it is "designed" to be exclusive to unknown talents?
And please elaborate on the definition of a "Specific demographic".

Am I the only one who can never get these things to work? I've tried the last 3 or 4 years, and have never been able to get one of these live streams to work and it sucks that they only keep the OnDemand stream for a day or so - when they bother to even have them.

Huh? I meant that they schedule a mix of "mainstream" and "indy" artists. Not just one or the other.

Grumpy old macrumors.com members like you, of course!

Apple is getting rid of the iTunes brand. 10 nights instead of 30 feels more corporate and less moving of music.

I've been feeling for a while they are trying to drop the i- naming convention. Instead of iWatch, we have Apple Watch. iPay – Apple Pay. iMusic – Apple Music. Curious if they dare to announce an Apple Pad or Apple Phone.

I never realised iTunes Festival went for 30 nights, so to me 10 seem like quite a lot...

3,300 standing.
3300? So even more are given out elsewhere?
It's a shame really. I totally understand that the media do an amazing job at promo etc. (especially a lot of tickets will probably be Apple employee employees) so they do all deserve it, and they will give great exposure.

But it just isn't quite a "festival" in my eyes
