So far, it seems to play some songs from My Library, as well as a few that aren't. Not sure how this is different from My Station with the red image on it yet...

Tangential: I like Apple Music, but it has a bad habit of replacing specific versions of songs I added to a playlist, with different versions of the same song. Then I have a hard time finding the version I chose originally, or (worse), it plays the explicit version of a DMX song during a family get together.

From the AppleInsider article: "It seems that Siri isn't yet aware of this new radio station." No surprise here.
Hidden deep within her subconscious I guess.

hey MacRumors mod. From what I am reading in the post, your article link needs to be removed, as it is not playing music per the reader but the person who made the link.
I tried both directly opening it in the app and from the link here and they’re similarly mediocre. I think it just sucks.

Found my own station in the app. No surprise, Apple’s music algorithm is the same, terrible system it’s always been.

No other app plays music I’ve disliked or suggests similar songs to my disliked music the way Apple does. There’s so much wrong with Apple Music, they need to fire current leadership and start over with someone that better understands how “discovering” and curating music should work.
Not to mention how your “favorites” station for some reason prioritizes covers and remixes instead of the actual songs.

I’m so tired of these “improvements”. Apple seems to have zero interest in actually making the music app better.

Virtually all of the Apple Music updates over the past several years have been catered towards marketing and pop culture.

Apple isn’t trying to build a great music application; they’re trying to build a new MTV.

I’m utterly convinced that the people in charge of the Apple Music team are not music fans, themselves. Neither the feature set nor the design decisions are catered towards people who actually love music. Apple Music is all about aesthetics and about the pop culture surrounding music, not the music itself.

I feel alone on this next statement: when I intentionally play a song in Music, and then allow the algorithm to select subsequent songs afterward, I have been very pleased with what was selected and that I have discovered. YMMV, but for me, it has proven incredibly helpful for music discovery.

How is this different?
I agree. Playing my Red music station always works really well too for playing music I’ve listened to and new stuff. I thought it was part Discover since it suggests stuff based off of what I already listen to.

OH, that explains it! Everything that has come up is the type of music I AVOID... I was starting to think AM is trying to tell me I need to open up my horizons. smh

Apple Music has always been incredible for me, literally from day one. It's known my musical tastes so well that I've been discovering new music from the day Apple Music launched. I know that this isn't the same experience for everyone. If I had to guess, it's because I had been an avid user of iTunes, having ripped my CDs and purchased music from the early days of the iPod. 15 years of play history had to have counted for something.

Should have called it AI instead of algorithmic. AI is so hot right now.

Apple has been avoiding using that term specifically because it's so overused that it's come to mean nothing. Everything is "AI" these days, even when it's not. When referring to what is truly AI, Apple uses the term Machine Learning which is more deliberate and is used when it truly has machine learning behind it.

Apple isn't calling it "algorithmic", MacRumours is.

I clicked from the link on Macrumors and got songs that are nothing like what I like, have in my library, or would ever add to my library.

I don’t think it’s live for me yet.

The other “Made for” me stations are generally great.

See the comments above, don’t follow the link but find Discover on your own device. It seems the link goes to the author‘s suggestions, which is interesting in itself.

I started this discovery station from within the app and not by using the link in the article and it's great! The algorithm pulls new (to me) and interesting music one after the other. I'm a heavy AppleMusic user and I hit “like” or “dislike“ and “add to library“ very often when I listen to Apples playlists, might be the reason why the algorithm works so good for me 🤷‍♂️ It's kind of a shame that we haven’t had this discovery playlist until now…

Same here. Should be called the "disliked" list. Limited years, genres, things that others like that I do not. I did get one good track once after disliking hundreds. Tidal Discovery does it for me. One moment a popular tune, then classical, then a show tune, then something from the 40's. Samples everything. Usually find one good track when the playlist is updated daily.

So far no dislikes on Discovery Station.

I hadn’t found any disliked in the Discovery list specifically, either. More a problem when creating stations from songs or listening to “my” station.

Yes. My Discover showed up now and is much better. Some Gabriel Fauré to start off.

With all due respect to the staff member who posted that link, it was some, uh, interesting music.
