I think Apple Music finds similar songs to the song you starting with, whereas Discovery Station draws from all of your music listening.I feel alone on this next statement: when I intentionally play a song in Music, and then allow the algorithm to select subsequent songs afterward, I have been very pleased with what was selected and that I have discovered. YMMV, but for me, it has proven incredibly helpful for music discovery.
How is this different?
Ahhh. Got it. I do that a lot: start with a song and then let the algorithm drive. Been impressed with the discovery that process has afforded. Thanks for the update.I think Apple Music finds similar songs to the song you starting with, whereas Discovery Station draws from all of your music listening.
Call it AlShould have called it AI instead of algorithmic. AI is so hot right now.
LOL, me, too. I put a thumbs down on every song. I stopped around 10 or 15. Apple has NO idea what I like, and I’ve been a subscriber and heavy user for 5 years. What a joke.Skipped around 40 songs. What the **** is that algorithm?
Apple Music today gained a new "Discovery Station," which is located under the "Listen Now" section under Top Picks in the Apple Music app. The customized radio station is paired with the personalized radio station featuring your name, and it has the "Made for You" label. It can also be accessed through this link for those who do not yet see it.

As noted by AppleInsider, the radio station appears to play songs of a similar style to songs that are in your personal library and that you have listened to and liked in the past, but it chooses songs you don't have in playlists or your library.
There is no documentation on the Discovery Station as of yet, so full details on how the algorithm works to suggest music are unknown. Apple may promote the Discovery Station at some point in the future, but from our testing, it looks like a good way to discover music that is suited to your individual taste.

Usually I’ll play “my station” the personalized one whenever i don’t know to play and I tend to like it.
i just used the link excited to use this new discover radio just for me….
except it’s giving me nothing but female pop and country ballads about love 😡 I don’t listen to any of this type of music. What the hell is Siri trying to tell me?
You are all listening to someone else’s station by clicking on the link in the story. This happened to me too.LOL, me, too. I put a thumbs down on every song. I stopped around 10 or 15. Apple has NO idea what I like, and I’ve been a subscriber and heavy user for 5 years. What a joke.
Is that the "Create Station" option while playing a track? I've never tried it, but does sound like that should be a way to hone in on something particular.I feel alone on this next statement: when I intentionally play a song in Music, and then allow the algorithm to select subsequent songs afterward, I have been very pleased with what was selected and that I have discovered. Do you need subscription to use this channel?
I’ve found Spotify to be useful for finding new songs. The songs I look for is men singing about men. Despite Apple having a gay CEO, Apple Music isn’t functional for that search. Seems like Apple Music is still in the closet! ❌🌈❌Looking forward to try this. We have an Apple One family subscription and I used to only listen to my music via Apple Music. Recently I’ve tried Spotify again and must say that I prefer listening via Spotify due to its algorithm & UI - it keeps giving me suggestions of songs that I may like or that are in the general genre that I listen to. Most important I’ve found a ton of new songs with it, that I wouldn't have found with AM. Getting used to the UI took me a bit, but after some short adjusting I also found the Spotify UI way better, but I guess that’s up to personal preference. If Apple manages to give me good suggestions with this station I might go back, so I don’t have to pay for two subscriptions.
