Everyone worried about Musish stealing your Apple ID, you do realize this is an open source project right? Meaning that hundreds if not throussauds of people can look at and inspect the code. If there was ever any risk of shady behavior someone would find it and start making a fuss about it. That’s the wonders of having open source software. There is never a piece of code that is hidden from the public.

Theoretically yes, but the only if people actually checked the software in depth. Regardless of it being open source, source code can contain malware that is hard to detect even upon code review. Colourama and other python libraries had malware issues last year and the malicious Javascript libraries found in npm back in 2017 also comes to mind. I'm not saying Musish is malicious or anything, but you shouldn't blindly trust open source software.

Can't wait until they open up my music library as opposed to my music library subscription.
Then my movies and TV shows. I've got over $3,000 locked up at Apple, I may have to sue them sometime so I can get at it on Linux once I get rid of my last Mac and Apple TV.

Apple should make a their own version very light simple dedicated just for music. I can't stand iTunes, it was the best back in the days it's the reason why I wanted Mac the first time I download iTunes on my Windows PC long time ago.

Important note! Unfortunately, you're absolutely right!

So I’m going to enter my iTunes Apple ID and password on a third party website so I can listen to my music? NOT!

That’s not how it works. The Apple ID authentication API on a third party site sends you to Apple’s own page to login (you can verify the URL for yourself) then just sends the third party site a token giving it the OK that you are who you say you are — nothing else.

It is cool and all that they make an API so people can do this but they really need to make a nice official web player.

Oh and an overhaul of iCloud.com that focuses on function and performance.

If they are serious about services they need to invest in modern web offerings so it is platform agnostic.

Apple Music is the most horrible streaming experience you can have on a Windows device.

I won’t use any web player unless it’s from Apple directly over security/privacy concerns.
Okay enough we know already. I trust my login. That is the problem with this form someone comes out with a nice web player and all we have are people complain about security concerns. If you are not going to use it don't bother posting then.

And you’re free to use it. Here’s another problem with this *forum, someone can’t post an opinion without someone else who disagrees with them telling them not to post at all.

Everyday - same chorus - iTunes is bloated, this, that! Many of you are tech enthusiasts toting the very best of gadgets. What do you actually use your iTunes for? I feel many just always want to join the chorus of complaining.

I think the frustration comes from someone providing a solution to help the community and they get bashed by a group of people who have no intention of using it. Small independent developers used to be inspired by our forums, but now I’m surprised they even bother.

Im trying to help the community too, I’m just saying we should weigh the risk of giving your credentials on a third party website. Odds are this guy has good intentions and wouldn’t do anything wrong, but I can’t take that risk. Hopefully this inspires apple to release a web player of their own.

You don’t give your credentials to a third party website. This has been explained multiple times.

This thread is an interesting look into the determination of people who don’t understand what they are talking about repeating the same nonsense over and over again.
