So ridiculous that Apple's customers have to craft up some hack to just play music on their PC ― are they taking this music thing seriously? Or is this part of the "Apple tax"

So ridiculous? Really?

I dunno...I just use iTunes on my computer. Works great (listening to Sneaker Pimps right now).

Am I doing it wrong?

Not too sure they will care. This site uses the official Apple Music API and all the features are officially supported https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applemusicapi

And heavy utilization of this: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/musickitjs

I understand they are using Apple's official APIs and auth, just like third party music players on iOS, but I'm still suspecting they'll find a reason to shut it down.

I feel like this is somewhat analogous to sites that have been taken down in the past that mimicked the iTunes and App stores. Again, I'm not sure why or what Apple's rationale will be, it's just my "sneaking suspicion."

Think I might skip this one!

I do hope apple actually makes an apple music web app at some point.

Is it ridiculous?
Why would someone give Apple their money for a subscription in the first place if it doesnt work the way they want it to in the first place?
I don’t. There are plenty of alternatives.

Apple still doesn't offer a full online web player for Apple Music, but this week software engineer Naveed Golafshani shared a new project on Reddit, allowing Apple Music subscribers to get access to their full library and other Apple Music features on the web.

Expect software engineer Naveed Golafshani to become a multi-millionaire in a few days…..as Apple buys out his software and patents.

I've always thought that Apple Music needs to be a standalone platform similar to Spotify.

The problem I have with Apple Music is it needs to be reinvented - iTunes was designed with Downloading and iPod as a priority - it needs to be rehashed and designed as Streaming First and iCloud/iPhone integration.

Apple Music needs to be
Streaming focused
Downloading Second

NOT

iTunes
Downloading focused
Streaming second

Apple Music just feels like an afterthought in iTunes.

Streaming music is corporate-designed thievery.

Musicians end up with next to nothing even after thousands of streams, while Apple, Spotify and other wrap ads and service fees around it.

Artists pointing their customers to iTunes to sell their albums are having them intercepted and sent to streaming pages first. Good for Apple, bad for musicians.

It destroys one of the few meagre means they had to get paid.

You may be right, especially if this thing gets popular. Either way, the best solution would be for Apple to make an official web app of its own.

You are aware of an application called iTunes, right?
Since every other major streaming service doesn’t rely on bloatware like iTunes, this anachronistic prerequisite makes using Apple Music on devices you don’t own unnecessary complicated (if not impossible on computers where you can’t install software yourself).

No, this is just part of Tim Cook's Apple Inc. not giving a rat's a** about its customers wishes.

I don't know---don't Windows users have iTunes on PC and doesn't iTunes have Apple Music (like on the Mac)?

iTunes is a mess
It's a mess everywhere, but it is also a SUPPORTED mess everywhere.

The issue isn't an "Apple tax" or the exclusion of the PC--the issue is a crappy, bloated and janky iTunes app, irrespective of platform.

I just did some queries and I've found that playapplemusic.com is a virtual machine, with the owner located in the UK, and hosted by Amazon. Take it for what it's worth.
