Apple Music today introduced five new mood stations that allow you to shuffle through songs fitting for a certain mood. The stations are available to Apple Music subscribers worldwide in the Music app under Home → Find Your Mood.

Apple says the mood stations are personalized based on your Apple Music listening history, and they are always updating with new songs.

The new stations:

  • Feel Good: Happy music with a positive vibe
  • Energy: Upbeat music to get you moving
  • Relax: Music that helps you find peace in the moment
  • Focus: Music to help you lock-in to the task at hand
  • Feeling Blue: Moody music that helps you lean into feeling down

These five new stations join the "Love" and "Heartbreak" stations that launched earlier this year.

How about fixing so it plays actual relevant songs after my playlists end first? I keep testing Apple Music about once a year and then cancelling because they are still a long way behind Spotify when it comes to recommendations.
I find that sometimes it’s hit or miss for both services but when they get in the groove, they’ll suggest perfect music for me. Apple Music took longer to learn my style and required me to favorite whatever I liked, and now I like everything it suggests for me. Spotify was great for a while but my tastes changed and it’s not wanting to adapt and is instead suggesting things way outside my tastes.

Algorithms are decidedly finicky things, I swear.

ChatGPT: Spotify first introduced "mood" playlists in 2013. These playlists were designed to cater to specific moods or activities, making it easier for users to find music that suited their emotional state or situation.

...Yep, about the same time I dumped iTunes.

Apple Music have never given me a single recommendations that wasn't utter garbage and the complete opposite of what I was listening to. If I use Spotify I find new music to listen to but when I use Apple Music that never happens.

If I make a playlist and listen to it they shouldn't require me to liking songs or having much past interaction to be able to play something relevant, just play something based on what I was just listening to. But no, Apple Music would play me something like K-Pop after listening to my "best of 70s/80s list"...

But then again Apple seem to be terrible with algorithms in general, Siri have always been unusable, Apple Maps is terrible and the list goes on.

So that means you’re ready to come back now?

Tim Cook is really obsessed with Apple Music opening people to new music. I wish it had much less emphasis on that and just made the things I already know I want to listen to easier to find.

I saw and tried it this morning...a few good songs and then a slew of songs I wouldn't listen to normally and after the second song I kept skipping. I figured it wasn't personalized until I saw this article. YIKES!!

Not sure how many times I have to hit "Play less of this song" for it to not play that song anymore...and if I do that for each song an artist has that pops up...maybe stay away from that artist too. I have favorited LOTS of songs to help the algorithms but they are very much hit or miss.

I do wish they had a LIKE and a FAVORITE option. and more importantly a LIKE an artist option.

With all due respect, it sounds like they're marketing elevator music. No thanks.
Agree.

I've used AM for close to two years and simply cannot get used to how little new music I discover when using it.

Would have been perfect as the integration with my Apple devices is phenomenal. But the suggestions just don't cut it.

I've now switched to YT Music -UI is kinda odd and not much better than AM. But the suggestions are a million times better.

And with YT Music, I also get to listen to all the cool "home-brewed", remixed and bootlegged stuff that you don't find anywhere else as it's not official releases.

I tried AM for a week or so again and canceled it again. I'm sticking with Qobuz, my local library and managed via Roon.

I wish they had a "don't like" and "block" options for artists, tunes, albums and genres.
