Disgusting comment. Since when does music have a COLOR?

What does that mean? Black people predominantly produce rap and hip hop music. When rap and hip hop is being advertised it is primarily black people who are promoted since they are the icons of that genre. It is logical to say that hip hop and rap music is primarily black music.

I'm not saying it's not a racist comment, but the logic is there. Check yourself.

If you'd like your name to be pronounced 'black', begin it with the letter b. Otherwise, I will call you sixlack.

and here I've been pronouncing your name "boatboyza"

I'm going to be optimistic and assume he just misspelled the artist's name as black rather than 6lack but I know I'm probably wrong and he's just ignorant.

I'm getting really sick and tired of Apple Music shoving black music down my throat... I don't want to see this when I open the music app! Why don't they do anything for trance, house, dance music...
I agree but music doesn't have a colour and that sounded a bit racist.

However you want to describe it, I am also tired of "music" that rhymes together profane, aggressive comments about unfortunate ways of living and views about life.

It's fine that it's accessible. Not really fine that it's overhyped. There are multitudes of categories. I will never listen to Up Next if it's myopic. So let's see what happens.

Try as I might, I never would have gotten Black out of 6lack. The best I could come up with was "Slack" since six-lack can kind of be mushed into slack.

On a different note, how about Apple start looking at promoting the next genre as opposed to the next rap artist. Rap as a genre has pretty much matured even though it is still popular.

What I would like to see is a generation defining shift in music that Apple can promote. Something like the debut of Rock & Roll in the '50s, the British invasion of the mid-'60s, the hippy music of the late '60s to early '70s, Disco in the late '70s, punk in the early '80s, the absolute best era in music with arena rock, electric, new wave, freestyle, etc. that lasted from 1983-1991, and finally grunge in the early '90s.

It is amazing how a musical style can define an entire generation. Unfortunately we haven't really had a musical shift since grunge. With songs from 1940 - 1995 I can almost immediately tell within a couple of years when the song was done even if I've never heard it before because musical styles were constantly evolving. Now, with very few exceptions, one song sounds just like the other and follows a fixed formula. Rap, country, and bubblegum pop haven't changed significantly in 20 years.

Come on Apple, show us the future instead of perpetuating the past.

In every genre, there's mass-produced, formulaic, juvenile dreck, and there's good stuff.

"There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind." -- Duke Ellington

As for new, give a listen to Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real. Willie's older son fronts a band that kind of fuses surfer rock, reggae, and country together, and it's really, really good.

When I saw the article I read his hame as "slack" thinking the 6 is for s... Bad idea if you need to explain to people how your artist name is pronounced.

I'm listening to an archived episode of HyperHouse with Anna Lunoe right now, maybe I'll listen to an archived episode of One Mix next, but hey let's just get racist instead of actually exploring Apple Music.

No one's shoving anything down your throat. No one's making you listen to anything. You're just angered by the sight of this music. You need to chill.

What's next? "Hi, my name is spelled B, O, B. It's pronounced 'Gordon'."

What's next? How about, "Hi, my name is spelled B, O, B. I'm physically a man. But I identify as a woman, so I get to join women's sports. And kick ass."

Nah. That would never happen.

Anyway, I didn't quite get the 6lack pronunciation either, but I'm old. At this age, I'm more interested in the xlax than the 6lacks.

Yes... This seems about right. Americans who don't understand anything about their culture, nor the origins of the music they love, yet would rather lash out about all the privilege they think is being taken away from them.

what the hell does he wear on his head :D LOL I dumped Apple music.

I apologize on 6LACK's behalf for not conforming to your European standards of beauty.

What's the bet this will be all Hip/Hop and Rap...

Perhaps metal and country don't make people excited to jump into music.

Yes, when I think of great, new music, I think of gems like this:

I got real **** to stress about, girl, I ain't worried 'bout **** ('Bout ****)
Remember that I tried to build ya, now I ain't worried 'bout ****

So I found me a new thang, I'm not as lost as you think
Got plenty queens in my hometown, all they need is drank and that dank

It's basically preschool rhymes with harsh language.

The crap the music industry, Apple included, tries to ram down our throat seems to be getting worse rather than better. Fortunately there's tons of great stuff being produced out there, but it won't make it to top 40 / Beats.

Awesome , more self promotion of Hip-hop. Good way to drive more people away from AM. I really gave it a go, though the Hip-hop content is off putting, needs better balance

Think one can enjoy music , even hip-hop without turning into a racial issue? Like a good diet I like a nice variation in the music I consume :)

It might be the afro variant of Joe Sixpack, though.
Anyway, they found something that adheres to the musical preference and contractual scope of E. Cue. So who are we, to disapprove where he wears his pubic hair.
And while the homogeneous lava stream of gangsta's, rappa's, pimpa's and alikes doesn't fit Diversity very well, the Recycling element in it seems quite genuine.

There are two things I find lacking with Apple Music compared to Spotify. And that's sharing playlists and more "radio" options. The amount of playlists you get when searching on Spotify is heads above what I get on Apple Music, and most of Apple's own curated playlists gets updated so seldomly and they are so short that I never use them.

When it comes to "radio" I have to ask one simple question. Why don't we have radio channels for 80's, 90's, 00's music etc? I often just hit the radio tab in Spotify, click on 90's and I'm done. There is no such thing on Apple Music.. The closest thing is to go to radio, pop and select 90's pop etc.. But I don't want to limit myself to only pop, I want a varied radio channel going cross-genre from the 80's, 90's, 00's etc.. I have no option for this in Apple Music and it makes me sad.. The closest thing is to find a 90's playlist, but those feature max 100 songs where as the 90's radio on Spotify I can go on for hours with mostly great songs without a single repeated song..
