My speculatiion is she quit exactly when her stock fully vested from the acquisition. Three years to the month pretty much.

Interesting as to why. Could be something benign...she made enough to bail, or maybe Apple has problems keeping top talent.

Total speculation, of course. I have no idea what happened as a matter of fact Either way, It's a bummer since she seemed like a nice executive to the Apple team.

people loved it tho and even called her the best keynote speaker at apple. (not including SJ of course)
I'd put c-fed ahead of her, but yeah, she had charisma that is definitely lacking in many of the folks who present at the keynotes.
I suspect she just couldn't stand zane Lowe pretending he was in his 20's all the time :p

If I remember correctly, she had a good stage presence and kept my attention.

With that being said, Apple Music app on the iPhone and Mac need a clean slate so maybe this can be good?
They just gave Apple Music a clean slate 9 months ago.....now people want another.....then after that another. No music service will ever be perfect. As good as spotify is, it has its issues, same with Apple Music. Serving up tens of millions of songs to tens of millions of people isn't exactly going to make EVERY person happy. Fortunately for me I think Apple Music is just fine.

Good riddance.

I agree. She was horrible. She was another lousy exec that Apple got from buying Beats. Now let's hope Jimmy Iovine is next to leave.

All I can say though is that when she was on stage, I had to cringe when she tried getting everyone to clap or dance along to some song she played...

It was as cringeworthy as Cue's dancing. The only Apple exec who doesn't embarrass himself/herself is Hair Force One.

She's leaving because she can go wherever she wants. As others have said, she was head of marketing for Apple Music, and maybe she was offered more to be head of marketing somewhere else.

This happens.

And yes, as a black guy from Baltimore her performance was a bit off putting. It was nice to see a dark and lovely face on stage, but she did push a bunch of tech nerds to dance during a tech conference a bit too hard.

P.s. Apple isn't always the best company to work for.

Because she was annoying. And it has nothing to do with her race, as you so predictably tried to bring up as a relevant point in your comment.

"Annoying" is how people should be judged for their work? Sheesh, talk about petty and immature.

Annoying people tend to be the ones who actually do get promoted. Because they're driven and ambitious. Obnoxious and resentful trolls usually stay at the bottom where they belong.

I actually liked her. In the keynote she was in, she woke me up. Keep her and dump eddy or Phil...or both

Note: suprised by the hate she is getting......so people would prefer to listen to Cook, in his monotone lifeless presentations..?

Enquiring minds want to know. Exactly WHY did she leave? This is a question most deserving of the million dollar price.

Coming over from Beats, they had to keep her for term for the obvious reasons and someone who is no doubt now vested to the tune of possibly mid-8 figures is not going to (and probably can't...) whine about it on her way out the door.

I cautiously enquire why you think this?

From what I'd seen and read, she was an enthusiastic, intelligent person who increased the profile of black women in industry.

Then that is probably where she is heading to. Intelligent black people wind up a lot in all sorts of diversity programs and such, and then get payed to talk about why it's so hard to get black people higher up in a company. Yeah duh.

Wow, that is a little surprising. She was on some people's short list to replace Tim Cook in several yrs as CEO.

A marketing head becoming CEO of Apple? Sorry but that sounds crazy.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not because I only seen her at that one keynote so I never formed an opinion on her.

The thing she did with "Rapper's Delight" last year was cringe worthy. I think a lot of people in the Apple press and tech press in general were in awe of her and gave her glowing reviews because she was a black woman on stage at an Apple event; not because of anything she said or did. If I recall, the tech press kind of stumbled over themselves to label her a "star" in the making.

Turns out she was just another Apple employee who happened to have dark skin. And a va jay jay.

Who are these people? That was such a cringe presentation.
Tech press and many of the podcasters. They loved her.

Not anytime soon but maybe in like 8-10 yrs when Cook was ready to step down

I suspect it's a very mundane one, nowhere near as interesting as our imaginations would have it.
I agree most likely left for same reasons that any other person would leave a job.

I'd take her over Eddy Cue or Jimmy Iovine any day of the week.

Yeah, that would give her some time to imbed into the Apple culture but that is a long time for somebody with ambitions. I wonder where she will be the next years, i will try to follow her career for sure.
