Not an Apple Music Subscriber, however invested $100s in standard iTunes music purchases. Will I be able to listen to those via voice command on G Nest products?

As I've posted in other threads here pertaining to music services. I have tried most of the popular ones:

Pandora
Amazon Music
Spotify
Apple Music
etc.

I have chosen Amazon music and Apple Music as my primary services because:

Amazon Music offers the lossless audio plan which I have devices that support that
2. Apple Music just goes well with iTunes and doesn't actually suck when I tried it.
I've been a long time Apple user since the 80's but after they dropped just being a computer company and have gotten into all these other things they have. My main view of Apple these days is over hyped under delivered, of course unless pleasantly surprised after looking at things for myself. I am happy to see Google devices get Apple Music, and will test it when, the option to link shows up.

Now add Tidal.
I've heard of Tidal and Deezer, just never used them. Initially they just seemed like no name smaller services. Seems like they are bigger and more popular than I initially thought. At least the services I listed I knew would be compatible with my hardware / software when I wanted to try them.

Ditched Crapple Music about a year ago and have never looked back. Anyone that listens to Progressive House/Trance/EDM may understand the reason: just because I like a remixed version of a pop or country song, doesn't mean I like pop or country. Crapple Music doesn't understand sub genres or how they relate back to the parent category. It simply just "discovers" garbage you have absolutely no interest in. Spotify understands.
You have a weird fascination with poop.

I wish speakers with screens like this Nest and Echo Show would display album art for currently playing Apple Music.

Now that HomePod minis are out, I’ve started replacing my Echos but Apple still doesn’t have a good replacement for Echo Show. While they do play Apple Music, they‘re self contained and don’t show what’s playing elsewhere.

This is really good, but a little too late for me. I just switched out my house from Google Home to Homepods and love it. I'm glad that they finally did this though.

Tidal is great!
Been trying it for a few days now (there was a bf deal where you get 3 months of tidal Hi-Fi tier quality music for $1.99, check their website it may still be available)
The mastering in there is much more relaxed than AP and sound quality is superior, make sure to check it out with decent gear.
I believe TIDAL connect (if/when supported by HomePod) will turn some heads. Otherwise, bringing support via JB should be possible

What if you are not in US, but your language in Assistant app is set to “English - US”? Will it work this way?

What about Canada? I have one as a gift and it’s annoying it doesn’t use Apple Music.
It's probably delayed due to some French localization or something. I remember we didn't get Apple Music on Alex right away either. But still, this is a positive sign. Maybe we'll get it in a month, maybe we'll get it in a year. :)

So has anyone actually got the option to set Apple Music as default in the Google Home app yet? I've been refreshing the app, and checking the App Store for updates, but nothing has shown yet. I pulled all my Google Home stuff (Home mini/Chromecast audio) out of my closet as soon as I heard the announcement, but this is kind of a bummer so far.

I know my Tesla will never get CarPlay, but adding Apple Music and even AppleTV would be nice and seems like more of a possibility than before.

don't trust anything google says about a "roll out". it took over 6 months before i got dark mode in gmail. i gave up caring about it, and then all the sudden it was activate, but i wasn't excited about it anymore. sadly, this may be the same thing with google.

Just checked my Google Home App and Apple Music isn't available...so coming soon I suppose. I'm just glad it's coming. I have a couple of rogue Google Home devices in a house full of Apple gear and I'm glad that Apple music will be there soon.

5.5 years is "ages" in Internet timeframes 😁
You're only saying that because it's Apple. It takes at least 24 months for a streaming service to iron out major issues and fix the UI upon customer feedback. Then they have to distribute the service to different countries and see how many subscribers they get. Once the service is getting good feedback and enough subscribers then it makes sense to send it out to 3rd parties to work on their equipment.
