You have no clue about me. I had Spotify. It was good. I now have Apple Music. For the most part it’s better, more comprehensive, better quality of sound, haven't been lied to about quality or services and they pay more to artists and actually pay artists with less than 1,000 listens. Maybe do your research before putting others down.
My original response to you was prompted by your statement that Spotify plays ”spam every 3 songs”.
I you compare like for like (I.e. the subscription tier. No other tier is available on Apple Music) then the statement is wholly incorrect, as Spotify doesn’t play any adverts whatsoever to Premium users.
Anyway, you are now telling me that you were a Spotify user (I assume a Premium user, otherwise we are still comparing Apples with Pears), so you can see how your original statement can be misleading.
It is very true that now Apple Music can stream audio at a higher quality than the highest Spotify premium quality.
Whilst the difference between 320kbps and Apple lossless is huge on paper, in reality it is difficult to perceive to the untrained ear, or to anyone listening with less than very hi fidelity equipment. There is a difference nonetheless.
As for payouts to artists, anyone concerned about Spotify rates should be aware that rates from Premium streams are notably higher, so perhaps they should get a Premium account. (i.e. pay for the music) Or even better, buy a CD as merchandise, even if they then listen on streaming.
As a musician published on all streaming platforms, I know I will not get any revenue of significance from any of them, but what I get from Spotify is a considerably greater exposure, due to their larger user base and, ironically, to their free tier.
This is a demonstrable fact, as I receive weekly reports from all of them.
