They’re also offering a “3 months for the price of 1” deal to returning subscribers. Not as nice as a free 3 months but a good deal nonetheless! It popped up on the “home” tab in the Apple Music app.

Not always eligible for this type of deal due to the number of times I’ve gotten a re-subscription deal, so noteworthy that they appear to be including most previous subscribers in this associated deal.

I only have ”try it now” button that actually is for monthly subscription, no trial of any kind 🙁

Can you sort by Comments metadata field in this App?

That's always a requirement for me as I hard code in the "added to my library" dates using the Comments field
Just checked and at present it appears not. They are very open to suggestions though so perhaps worth messaging them with the request. If they add it then their software could be a possible option for you in the future?

Difficult to know why, when you don’t know the first thing about it.
You have no clue about me. I had Spotify. It was good. I now have Apple Music. For the most part it’s better, more comprehensive, better quality of sound, haven't been lied to about quality or services and they pay more to artists and actually pay artists with less than 1,000 listens. Maybe do your research before putting others down.

Yeah, not really.

My original response to you was prompted by your statement that Spotify plays ”spam every 3 songs”.
I you compare like for like (I.e. the subscription tier. No other tier is available on Apple Music) then the statement is wholly incorrect, as Spotify doesn’t play any adverts whatsoever to Premium users.
Anyway, you are now telling me that you were a Spotify user (I assume a Premium user, otherwise we are still comparing Apples with Pears), so you can see how your original statement can be misleading.

It is very true that now Apple Music can stream audio at a higher quality than the highest Spotify premium quality.
Whilst the difference between 320kbps and Apple lossless is huge on paper, in reality it is difficult to perceive to the untrained ear, or to anyone listening with less than very hi fidelity equipment. There is a difference nonetheless.

As for payouts to artists, anyone concerned about Spotify rates should be aware that rates from Premium streams are notably higher, so perhaps they should get a Premium account. (i.e. pay for the music) Or even better, buy a CD as merchandise, even if they then listen on streaming.
As a musician published on all streaming platforms, I know I will not get any revenue of significance from any of them, but what I get from Spotify is a considerably greater exposure, due to their larger user base and, ironically, to their free tier.
This is a demonstrable fact, as I receive weekly reports from all of them.

I had a 3 months trial when it was new and they are offering since years a second one to my same Apple ID without any interruption. I thought this is normal thing, that you could take it more than once, if long enough time went by.

It really isn't. You just swallowed Apple PR hook, line and sinker.
  1. Several things to unpack here.
    1) a 3 1/2 year old article is outdated as Spotify has since reduced, or changed the way it pays new artists (to virtuallly nothing)
  2. I never said Apple Pay twice as much as Spotify which is what that outdated article is discussing.
  3. Maybe you should read that content without Rose coloured glasses before using it as your source.

Maybe look at this. Spotify Found Another Way To Pay Less To Songwriters

the giant Swedish streaming company is still finding new ways to cut down the meager shares that it pays to the people who actually make the music that people listen to on the platform. Last year, the company restructured its royalty system to de-monetize tracks that previously received 0.5% of its royalty pool, which meant that plenty of independent and lesser-known musicians won’t make the cutoff.

FYI, Apart from that increase to $10.99, it has now increased the subscription AGAIN to US$11.99!

Spotify's pricing change means that songwriters and publishers will now earn $150 million less per year from Spotify, even though the subscription will be more expensive.
