especially of you continually engange with love/dislike tracks you come across the custom playlists it offers are better.
I’ve actually found AM supplied me with plenty of deep cuts and off-the-beaten-path music, and I’ve never had an issue finding anything in the catalog. Are your setup preferences right. If not, make sure you’ve only emphasized, say, classic rock, and then pick a bunch of representative artists. Also, if you haven’t already, delete the categories you don’t want at all. i.e. if you loathe Pop, touch and hold until it goes away completely. Several friends didn’t know that could be done. Once properly configured, my For You playlists have been very good. Also, play with creating radio stations from artists and songs you like and AM will build some pretty good stuff.I would perhaps sign up and get on that subscription if iTunes wasn't so annoying.
It is impossible to search through iTunes music without a gigantic hassle. If you aren't buying into the modern dreck they are pushing, they stifle your ability to find anything unless you have a precise-laser-focus-trigger-phrase search. They won't even RECOMMEND within a genre unless it is new and dumpy. Hidden gems of the past are paved over by popularity and corporate junk.
How many times can I listen to Pink or U2 or (hip, modern, boring, suburban-bland band) before I barf? About once. Maybe less.
Apple has a massive problem in archiving and displaying and presenting of music. Your money masters might lead around the noobs by a nose ring, but I want something fresh from the days of great music and hifi production. Apple Music doesn't help me.
And gramps, here, hates the loudness war, too. Someone, please, stop with compression and let me turn up the volume to hear nuance.
The background picture is a little self-indulgent.
Let's face it: it helps when your app is built-in. Most people will try the built-in app first and, when it's good enough, stick with it. Then add all the integrations Apple Music has with Apple's ecosystem (Apple Watch, Apple TV, HomePod, Siri etc.) and an enormous marketing budget, and it's not at all surprising that most people with an iPhone will end up with Apple Music.

If you spend some time playing around with the interface, you can avoid a lot of the dreck.How many times can I listen to Pink or U2 or (hip, modern, boring, suburban-bland band) before I barf?
The background picture is a little self-indulgent.But, other than that, it looks pretty nice. Too bad Microsoft never really seemed to have a plan how the Zune software was to fit into the rest of the Windows media ecosystem. And they've totally lost the plot since then.
Just over 2 months out from new iPhones iPads and MacBooks and all this site reports is subscriber numbers and endless beta release stories.. BORING!!!!!!!!!
Can we not have some decent leaks? Or are you all afraid of being sued and closed by Apple?
Bullish practices such as the 30% cut for making subscriptions on the App Store (effectively impeding Spotify to acquire customers on the iOS devices) and the inability of Spotify to integrate with Siri start to pay off. Especially in the US where iOS market share is so high.
I hope Europe acts against Apple on these fronts soon. From the US I don't expect much.
Kind of interesting how it’s like
USA = Apple Music
World = Spotify
USA = iMessage
World = WhatsApp
Serious question: is Apple Music good?
I remember the launch, and it was corrupting people”s music libraries because it was mid-matching songs, functionality was limited, and the interface looked like that overly anemic white space, but that was awhile ago.
But maybe things have changed. Or, is Apple Music growing just because they have prime real estate on our devices? Hoping it’s the former.
So what the word?
I've tried Apple Music three times and every time I come back to Spotify. I feel like I can't find any good playlists or new music. Spotify is just much better in my experience for its' UI and ability to find new music through playlists people have made for each genre. Being able to 'go to radio' on a song is great too.
Apple Music is better than Spotify in every way.
Nope. GPM is great. It's even better with free YT premium.I think everyone can agree that Google Play Music or whatever google is calling it this week isn't so good.
