hopefully this means better sound quality will finally come to apple music so i can leave spotify and their absolute dog-crap UI.
All the professional reviews I’ve seen say that Apple Music beats Spotify free tier by a lot and Spotify’s 320 kbits OGG is comparable to Apple Music’s 256kbit AAC , so I have no clue unless you use android, AAC on android sucks rotten eggs, I have no idea why

Now what about iTunes music purchases??
I bet if you have cloud synch or whatever it’s called, you can redownload I did that with older CDS I haD ripped and got the best version available. Of course as time goes on, the entire older library may not still be available online, so save your old music (or be like that tard and not download it and save it, then sue because it is no longer offered)

It's going to be "live" spatial audio, maybe from concerts too. Knowing Apple, limited to a few artists and US only.
Isn’t that more up to the artist label? Wouldn’t they have to approve and or produce the new cuts, I mean copyrights are copyrights

Almost… Sony’s LDAC bluetooth codec is as capable as bluetooth gets at the moment, Apple don’t currently support LDAC… watching this news with excitement!
I’d LOVE to think Apple’s getting ready to support LDAC! Unfortunately I expect them to release their own in house solution. It’ll be great for people who own AirPod products, but I don’t.

I’m still hoping against all odds that my Sony WH1000XM4s will somehow be supported by Apple’s new tier.

I would assume this would be a free tier upgrade as it would not only help push Airpod sales but storage capacity sales. Apple trying to make 128GB the new 64gb by hyping up a new spatial experience that requires a ton of storage space. im for it if it’s worth it. sounds exciting.

If they can do it at no extra charge, including special spacial audio features for AirPods users, I think it’s gonna be really really tough on Spotify.
You know, not all of us line up to use Apple services with our Apple devices bought with our Apple credit cards. I enjoy my iPhone and my two Macs very much. My AirPods? Really great.

But I do not, and will not, use any of Apple's services because they're sub-par, to me. Whatever audio shenanigans Apple introduces won't change that. I have no interest in Spotify, Amazon's, Deezer's, or Tidal's "hi-fi" streams either.

If it matters to you, then by all means. Choose the one that works best (or just choose Apple if that makes you feel good) and enjoy it to its fullest. Genuinely. However, I assure you the vast universe outside of Apple's money-making machine will shrug and march on just fine.

Any chance Apple will allow 3rd party like Roon, Network streamers or other use a kind of api to add the services to their own solutions instead of AirPlay? I think this would benefit Apple and the customers. Tidal and Spotify does this already.

I have tried tidal and other hifi services and the limitation is my ears. I certainly can't tell the difference between apple music tracks and tida hi fi

You can always download and save in library, but it would seem wise to toggle tiers
This is what I do as I have a work phone. It is a bit irritating though as Siri seems to want to access Apple Music by default rather than your library, so annoying when driving and you want a particular song.
the rest of the family just stream.

Long way to catch up to Tidal. Tidal sounds fantastic on good audio gear.

If you use Bluetooth, it doesn’t matter, lossless adds nothing. Not sure how existing hardware will feed lossless from Apple.

They also use MQA which many truly into HiFi detest because of its ties to DRM

So I stream with CarPlay.... can I change to normal fidelity so I don't get clobbered with overuse data?
Based on code in the Android app, yes, of course!

"Lossless audio files preserve every detail of the original file. Turning this on will consume significantly more data, Lossless audio files will use significantly more space on your device. 10 GB of space could store approximately: – 3000 songs at high quality – 1000 songs with lossless – 200 songs with hi-res lossless".

Man that would be amazing. I am a Roon user here. Yeah that would be awesome if they can integrate with the software.
