Very weird diversion from the most natural approach in that setting. I thought Apple’s philosophy was to make the human-machine interaction as natural as possible in any given context?
Making voice requests or giving voice commands is very natural.
So is that some people are just imbeciles that find it hard to follow them.

You need to reread the article. You don’t seem to understand the subject matter. Your comment makes no sense.
Wait! Am I misunderstanding this?

"The Voice Plan provides access to all songs, playlists, and stations in ‌Apple Music‌ using ‌Siri‌, and is augmented by a custom in-app experience with suggestions based on your music preferences and a queue of recently played music."

Apple is pretty much charging a service fee to access all songs, playlists, and stations in Apple music using Siri?

Voice requests in the future may be very natural. But voice requests with Siri are definitely not.

It’s by far the most frustrating service Apple has and calling users imbeciles is not going to change that. Siri is horribly bad.

And it doesn’t work. .. why? Unless you want to only listen to English artists, good luck in speaking to Siri in more than one language.

Sorry, I am having trouble with the connection. Please try again later.

This is for people without a subscription to the full Apple Music service. A stripped down Apple Music service.
You can’t possibly think Apple will be allowed to charge you extra to use Siri within your existing Apple music subscription lol.

I think they priced it too high. Should be 2.99 p/month to make it a no-brainer to sign up, then quickly get frustrated with it and upgrade to the full tier. At 5.99, I think many will skip it.

What a load of crap. I pay for a Family Plan, all the bells and whistles, and I can barely get Siri to work. Let alone have to rely on him to provide a paid for, albeit cheap service. It's doomed to fail based on Siri's performance. Additionally, it's a stab in the dark at providing something none of us needed.

I am sure this is all to gather more data and train Siri to perform better, Siri is a failure at understanding which song to play.

apple is lagging behind in the smart assistant marketand they are trying to catch up.

According to the video, it's not an extra fee. It's a lower-cost plan. So if you're already on Apple Music's Individual plan, you wouldn't be using the voice plan
Gotta admit. Until I read about the plans etc I also thought it was an extra charge to use Siri.

I have no idea what’s going on at Apple but their naming conventions are getting unclear

My guess is this is a way for Apple to entice more people to use Siri more so they can improve its algorithm and accuracy to better compete with Amazon and Google AI.
Maybe, Siri’s Perry rebuke right now and needs heaps of work. That said, Siri is in no condition to support the Voice Plan, it won’t work for a lot of people. Also, basically no UI is a terrible idea. It’s probably to get people using  Music too then switch to a real tier subscription because they already „invested“ in their libraries. But this won’t get people to switch from wherever. And it won’t make new subscribers cuz Siri is unreliable at best. It will make people turn away from Siri and probably  Music. Terrible idea, but we’ll see how it works out.

This particular product won't last long. You might was well just use pandora deal with some adds and have slightly more control...and its free. I think a $4.99 plan is great, but it would make more sense to allow some download and app functionality. Just severely limit the total amounts of downloads or something? Maybe prevent custom playlist management? You can only access curated playlists and radio. Otherwise this is kind of a joke.

This boggles my mind. How Timmy thinks this is good UX I'll never understand.
It seems very odd to deliberately remove functionality from the iOS Music app and force you to use your voice. Very weird diversion from the most natural approach in that setting. I thought Apple’s philosophy was to make the human-machine interaction as natural as possible in any given context?

Ever press the End key while editing a document on a mac? Ever try to copy text from a web link and not the link itself? I'm not so sure sure the reputation is that well deserved.

Well, they did have a context (HomePod) that was 100% voice. And presumably they're imagining another context (AR/VR) where this would be the preferred interaction. It seems odd that people anything find anything odd about what Apple is doing.

This music voice plan should have been FREE since Siri is doing all the magic. I’m not sure why Apple is even charging a service fee for this.

We are already paying for Apple Music Service Fee. Paying for a small feature extra makes no sense. ??‍♀️

Is there even a free trial for this?
You do understand if you are paying for Apple Music currently, you already have this feature? To be clear. What’s “new” about it is it being singled out by Apple as the only feature offered for a new, cheaper, music plan.

Imagine the scene: you’re in the Music app, merrily browsing through the available catalogue after you searched for your favourite band. You see the exact album you want to play. Your AirPods are in your ears and connected. You’re telling me the most natural thing to do here is to say ’Hey Siri, play album X from band Y, the 2010 remaster, not the 1982 original’ and hope Siri understands this…instead of literally one press on the screen? The latter option being deliberately made unavailable on this cheaper plan.

Oh come on. Ask Siri to play a specific song. It’s impossible. There’s even a realistic scenario she’ll turn on the lights in your house.

Huh?

That's been working for me since my first OG HomePod almost four years ago. A visit to the Genius Bar for assistance might be worth your while.

New subscribers may sign up for Apple Music using this lower starting price and then later on upgrade to the $10 plan. Better to subscribe to normal $10 plan. The one time 7 day preview is welcome.

Even with foreign artists or songs?.

I´m from Spain, Siri language is set to Spanish on my Homepods. Trying, for example, to ask Siri for a specific classical recording, whose name is in English, is a real challenge. Success rate is 1/10.

Even when she understands me, sometimes she says that " I can´t find this album in Apple Music", when in fact it is available.

Thank god I can remote control the homepods and don´t have to use Siri for music requests. This has been a real problem since I bought my original homepods back in 2018.
