Apple Music Was Second Biggest Global Music Streaming Service in 2019

Not really the best argument considering Chrome is the main browser on Windows. I know what you intended but the execution...

Do you think Chrome magically appears on Windows? That's right. One has to use Edge/Internet Explorer to download it. Plus, enterprise is mostly Edge/IE.

Full transparency I pay for and use Apple Music because it works well with Siri and my ecosystem - but it’s a terrible terrible UX. Discovery is hard, the playlists that get generated are a mash up mess and the sharing is sad.
I want it to get fixed because I’d like to use the native app but I often find myself using google activity playlists and shared Spotify playlists. Hoping Apple improves this service.

also your own playlist search is terrible if you have more than a few

Spotify rightfully at #1. Don't know why anyone would use anything else.. especially Apple Music?

It’s available on all my Apple devices, especially the Apple Watch and Apple TV (as I still don’t have HomePods in my country). It’s integrated with Siri, and I just like keeping it all within the Apple ecosystem.

Does anyone else find the Apple Music app to be "clunky" and not pleasant to use?

Perhaps. I am using Soor, a third party Apple Music app and have shortcuts to quickly access certain playlists. I guess that kinda validates your argument somewhat, but I guess I have found a happy middle ground here.

The power of being the default, while pestering the user and upselling the user in multiple places to "sign up".

Imagine if Apple had to do what MS had to do in the 90s and give users the option of installing a competing streaming service and competing music app out of the box.

I don't understand why anyone would use Apple music when family sharing requires everyone be on the same AppleID family account with one person in control of everyone's AppleID accounts.

That's a hard deal-breaker for me. Apple needs to realize that in the 21st century we have progressive families that aren't ruled by a patriarch. And many family households have multiple adults who want autonomy over their own things.

I guess Apple Music is good for people who live alone. Just like HomePod....
Or some of us like Apple Music for our own reasons and it pairs nicely with multiple homepods. To each their own I suppose.

I wanna see the numbers on how much these services pay the artists. Last couple times I’ve checked, Apple Music is by far superior to these other services. With Spotify being the lowest.

Are they still operating in the negative by the way? Or have they finally changed their business model and turned a profit?

You have to realize you're not making any sense. It was simply a bad example. It happens, no big deal. Don't double down. Edge/IE doesn't even have the 2nd largest usage on Windows. That belongs to Firefox.

Like I said, I know what you were trying to convey.

Spotify doesn't have as much stuff, at least compared to Apple Music or YouTube. If you've got Apple devices, Apple Music has the typical ecosystem lock-in perks. YouTube has even rarer songs than Apple does. So I can see why Spotify is #1, but there are places for others.

This logic makes no sense. So Tidal is not for you, it's also not for me, but why does their lack of success bring you great joy? Why does Tidal have such a premium space in your mind? I don't care one way or the other how Tidal is doing, I just ignore it and don't think about it.
Then that’s great for you. But it doesn’t mean your inconvenience should dictate what others can or cannot do. This isn’t a “my way or the highway.” Again, if you don’t like it then you shouldn’t be forcing your views on why a household should or shouldn’t use Apple Music.

A married couple can't even trust each other with a shared Apple ID? I agree the whole family sharing stuff is clunky and confusing, which is why my family just shares one single account, but this is a strange complaint.

Who's forcing anything?

The amazon number is partial BS since every prime member gets it but nay not use it. Apple and Spotify require users are a bit more active in having a subscription.

I use it, also Apple M and Pandora the most.
Soptify too, but...

Apple Music is my ‘go to’, but I do have a subscription with Amazon Prime music, Which I actually really like the new redesigned interface, and they’ve really expanded their library selection terms of music offered. It’s nice to have options when you want it, as I don’t just use Apple Music alone.

Everyone I know that uses Spotify only does so because they get 6 month subscription codes for £5 online. I would have thought Spotify would crack down on these but they don’t seem to mind.

I don’t use the Music app any more as I’m sick of the Apple Music nag splash screen you get if you just want to listen to your own cd ripped music - or even just music that you’ve bought from ITMS.

I can't stand Spotify's designs since the early days. Apple Music works seamlessly in iOS and maturing in macOS. There is no interest for me to add a poor architecture code base, pig of a product in Apple ecosystem.

Funny, I don't ever get this `nag screen.'
