Unless they can somehow get Santa Rosa early, there won't be any Macbook or Macbook Pro updates.
I don't really see any hardware updates here, just Final Cut, and maybe Logic or Aperture. I have a feeling this Final Cut update is going to be big though.
Unless MBPs have been underselling lately, it is unlikely that Apple would want to introduce an update that wasn't shipping within a few days. But, aside from the possibility of Apple's increasingly favourable relationship with Intel (4-Core 3Ghz etc) paying off with Santa Rosa because big demand for Apples means big margins on early runs of chips only yet available in small numbers for Intel, and Intel's ability to often beat their own timeframes (I can't remember any examples, but I've heard people mention this before...), there are actually a couple reasons to think MBPs are underselling:
1) The advert at the store saying "Going fast." A play-on-words pushing the MBs'/MBPs' speed, implying that they're selling well - a suggestion that the very advert itself refutes. Granted, there's not much by way of new computers to tout, but my understanding of marketing tells me to be pretty skeptical of this advert.
2) It is surely not just ppl on MR who have noticed that Apple are in dire need of putting out a new computer. Sales are likely to be down, since Apple hasn't bothered using the iphone halo effect to garner attention for any new products (the 8-core workstation doesn't count cos of the market its going for). Apple has been gaining marketshare in laptops quicker than in desktops, lack of updates discourages switchers, who are more likely to look into their purchase out of ignorant curiosity, than a beleaguered mac user whose grown weary of these sites and simply needs a new notebook.
Even if they don't bring new MBPs in a "one more thing" today, I doubt apple will wait long once the chips are available. So, it should only be a month or so either way.
