I'm still hoping for a iPhone 13 mini sized alternative. I love iPhones for their compact size option. My kids (small hands) prefer it too.
Kids shouldn’t use smartphones. Their brain will rot. 😊 but I agree the size of the 13mini is perfect. Sadly my employer replaced it with the 15pro.

Apple, remember the SE is supposed to be the economy priced iPhone. Let’s not try to figure out how to add another $50 to the high price already. o_O
If I were Apple I'd try to bring the price for the SE line down not up, to lure the hesitant people into the Apple-world. Kinda like the iPad 9th gen or M1 MacBook Air. Amazing pricepoint for a product that does 95% of what the masses need, even when compared to competitors. The SE phone should be the same thing. Use old parts, make it really affordable!

Marketing and strategy is weird at Apple. Planning to release an SE with a similar screen size as the base iPhone - they’ll share the same market while Apple just forgets about the mini market which does have a way higher sales potential. Too bad Apple screwed up big time with previous SE and Mini launches which did muddle statistics.
I don’t know a single professional in my vicinity to be using a socalled pro iPhone. All of them are using the base model or, prefarably, a smaller one. Mini = Pro.

I was really thinking they would have made the Mini the SE and dropped touchID - it still makes sense to do that in my opinion, if they can solve the battery issue. I had the 12/13 Mini, I really loved them, but I had to go with the 15 Pro one they lightweighted it a bit because of the battery and camera features.

Would it not make sense for the SE4 to come out with the 16?
This way the 16, 15, and SE4 would all have USB-C and opportunity for price tiers.
It would eliminate the need for them to keep 3 generations on sale and only keep the SE at the “lower” price point. The mid-tier (previous year’s model) could be priced higher than it currently is because having the SE, and its reduced feature set, below it would allow for a higher price position.

I’ll do it for $20 but will need 30% of every phone they sell and 30% of their goods and services revenue.

This is the iPhone I've been waiting for! Cameras don't do anything for me. I have a DSLR for taking good pictures. I just want a phone that fits sideways in my back cycling jersey pocket, so it doesn't fall out when I hit a flaw in the pavement. I want USB-C. I'd like more than 64GB of storage, but that's not a deal breaker.

Really looking forward to see what the next SE is like... OLED would be nice...

I don't do anything "Pro" with my phone... as long as its battery, screen, speakers, cameras and connectivity is good... and iOS is solid... I'll be happy.

They really need to drop Pro from their phones lineup and just have low, mid and high tiers...

Well it looks like I will be going the frankenphone route. I have an SE3 but I'd like a bigger screen and better cameras, I also have an Iphone 11 but that is older tech that won't be supported much longer. I guess I will buy a used 13, probably just go for one in good condition, since I plan on replacing the screen anyway. That way I can have a better camera, night mode and 5G. I've tried the 14 and it was a no go, even handling my niece's 14 at Christmas when I was trying to help her with a few things, gave me a headache. And I went to the Apple store and played with the 15 Plus since some here said they could tolerate it, but I ended up with eye strain and a headache about an hour after I had been looking at it. So the frankphone route for me if I want to stay in the Apple ecosystem, I've thought about switching to Android, but their LCD phones are on the lower scale spec wise, so I might as well stay with what I know.

People need more PWM OLED. Why would you need eyesight? With new Siri AI you can forget about your destroyed vision and just ask it to do something. /s

/uj I guess my SE 3 would be the last useable device for the next 10 years. I just don’t get why Apple treats their customers like a big pile of crap

Samsung Display, BOE, and Tianma are all said to have entered their proposed prices for OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4....

The report's sources said Samsung offered the lowest unit price of $30, BOE offered $35, and Tianma $40. Apple is reportedly haggling for $20....

The panel prices are said to be a lot lower than suppliers charge for the OLED displays used in the iPhone 15, because the panels for the SE will use legacy parts identical to those used in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, so the suppliers won't need to make new investments in R&D.
Apple wants to pay $20 for an OLED panel, but then will charge iPhone owners at least 10x that to replace a broken one? 🤔

For me this is the true and perhaps the final test of Apple.

Will Apple uses Chinese OLED for iPhone sold in China.

So will Apple's new strategy to be to no longer have carry-over of old models in the lineup, rather they'll have the flagship and the SE? That makes more sense to me. I don't think it makes sense to have SE, two old models, and the flagships. Too many SKUs.

I’ll be done with Apple once there is no up-to-date mini option.

I feel you, and it's crazy that Apple is willing to abandon this group of buyers. However, it seems that the choice is currently between 5.92" Asus Zenfone or 6.1" iPhone. It's weird that that no Android manufacturer has filled the mini niche. While mini's sales were lackluster compared to larger iPhone models, they were still massive compared to the sales of most Android phones.

It's a little bit hard to even understand the purpose of an SE that's basically the same as the 14. Why not just keep the iPhone 14 on the market and save the development costs?
It's not the same as 14. The 14 and current SE have A15 chips and this will have A17/A18 plus USB-C, which will likely be more AI ready.

6.1” iPhone SE 🤦‍♂️

Further evidence, as if any was needed, that the SE line was only ever a parts bin special from Apple’s perspective.

The next SE should have been based on the iPhone 13 mini chassis. Obviously Apple feels it wouldn’t have sold, but meh.
I live in a neighborhood with lots of older people, every other person has an iPhone SE 2020 or 2022. They like Apple, they are price sensitive and will always get the cheap option and they don't care about screen size, they're already using devices with smaller screens than the mini would provide. I also was really hoping the new SE would be based on the mini chassis...

A 6.1” OLED screen, Face ID, I believe it’s rumored to be getting Dynamic Island and the new button…
The list of things that will make it different (and cheaper) than the “normal” iPhone is getting strangely small. Really makes me wonder how much it will cost and how big (small) of a niche it’s going to fill.

iPhone SE4 with 6.1" OLED dynamic island faceid screen, 2 cameras on back, WiFi 7 with reasonable lower price would be killer iPhone for the price conscious consumers..

Going to use my 13 mini until it fails and there's no way to get a replacement, or they release a similar form factor phone.
Yeah I will also use it till it lasts, have you updated it to iOS 17? I am kinda scared cause I remember when I had the 7 and when I did a software upgrade for it, it became slow and the battery life went pretty bad, my brother has a 12 and he has said that IOS 17 has made his phone slow.
