This better be true

It takes months for a Fortune 500 to refresh its long overdue products?

This is interesting...... Plenty of potential buyers out there waiting for this several months ago.

Oct 14th....new macbook better be there or I will buy Voodoo

part of me wants it, part of me doesnt want a macbook pro refresh for say... along time? since i just got my macbook pro in march.

but october obviously makes since if not january. the last imac refresh was was around tis time.

Regarding "Its all about the Brick":

I like the idea of it being an integrated AC to DC power converter so all we have to do is carry around the cord.

That would be really good. If the "about the Brick" rumor is true, then I could also see it being a higher capacity battery, or a ridiculously quick-to-charge battery on the MBP. If the spy shot picture of the new casing is right, it is built to fit a really big battery.....

The brick is going to be a hard drive, wifi access point, cd-rom all-in-one. This way all of the macbooks can become smaller like the air.

A brick? that would make so much sense for a mac mini wouldn't it?

After the 9th event I was pretty much like, ok whatever, I'll just leave this website behind because this has become daft now. And here I am again, all the way till October the 14th this time

Forget it!

I've said it for years now and will say it until it'll become clear to everyone: Apple will NEVER update the Macbook Pro exterior and will only do small tweaks to the inside until at least past the year 2100, as this is what they've succeeded with for the last 5 years (I don't call the change from the Powerbook to the MBP a real design upgrade, including the Ti Powerbook it has been 7 years since the last upgrade).

honestly the "brick" to me means the foundation, the foundation of Apple has always been COMPUTERS. And maybe because they have been focusing on the other areas of Apple for quite awhile they will be bringing it back to the brick, or foundation of apple.

just what i think, or hope!

MBP FTW!

I don't know about this. My confidence in date speculations has been withering away these past months. It seems like the only time I'll start believe is when I'm seeing an annoying amount of molds/mockups/rumors like they did recently with the new nanos before they announced the Sept 9th date. I wouldn't get my hopes up about Oct 15 until we see more.

10.5.5

I think the reason it has not been release is the new hardware. I believe when 10.5.4 (i could be wrong about the version)came out people looked and saw new macbook identifiers in the os before the new hardware was released.
I also think that the combo drive will go away when apple go blu ray.
The superdrive will be in the low models blu-ray in the higher end.

apple putting blu ray into its macbook pros would be fantastic! I do not own a blu ray player, but to have the ability to watch those dvds on the macbook pro im waiting out on would be bitter sweet

I disagree. I am looking to spending money on a work tool that is the optimal compromise between weight/bulkiness and getting my work done efficiently. I don't want to spend extra money on something that makes my work tool a bulky, heavy, entertainment gimmick. Who cares about optical drives? They're a thing of the past and in a few years will only be found in living rooms next to the TV.

Perhaps you can get what you're looking for in a Dell? For the $2500 you'd spend on a MBP you could get a fantastic HD capable LCD monitor on the side.

adds about 2-3 weeks of delay to that date, it'll be about November 07th.
happens everytime.

I thought this was interesting. I got this university-wide email a couple hours ago:

If you are still shopping for a back-to-school computer, or want to start your holiday shopping early, Apple has some great prices that may entice you.

Wayne State University and Apple Computer are partnering together to offer students, faculty, and staff special discount pricing for personal purchases of iPods, Macintosh laptops and desktops, printers, and accessories.

Prices are lower now than in the past. You can get an additional $50 to $100 off the standard education discount on select Apple computers.

I've been predicting 2nd week of October for the couple of months but no one listened. Now it looks like others are getting on the bandwagon. It's not hard to figure out. August/September is all about going back to school promotion and iPods. That leaves October as the most likely month - so that we don't get too far into the holiday season. Since it's been over 6 months since the last upgrade I knew that they couldn't wait until the first of the year at MacWorld. Picking the second week of October was just a hunch. Let's hope I'm right because I could sure use a new laptop. :D

Imagine: Macbook-chromatic

Silver Macbook with black keyboard
Black Macbook with black keyboard
Every other colors with white keyboard

It seems too nice to be true...

I think it'd be Mac-chromatic. If they wanted it to roll of the tongue.

I don't think it'll happen though. I just wanted aluminum and anodized black aluminum.

in October! ready to buy.

I've been waiting a long time for this. I'm hoping it's a major revision, but I wonder if it will be more of a speed bump and anything really innovative won't be released until after January.

I hear they are gonna update the macbook and you will be able to get in a rainbow of bright colours, for the macbook pro update they only have 1 model with an 80 gig HDD and os 10.4 and for the macbook air it will have more features then both the iPod touch and the current gen macbook air, along with nike+ integration.
;)

being as I am not in Kansas anymore (I am in Italy) I think I will take Toto (no dog either, but I will take my mom's black cat), and Leopard (Lion, leopard... close enough) and my aluminum Powerbook as a model, and go see the Wizard of Jobs and ask him for a 12 inch MBP, and in the meantime, I will drop an Apple store on the wicked witch of the Gates... :p

But seriously, the world needs a 12inch MBP again. My Powerbook is 4 years old and still kicking!!!:apple: I just love those little machines

any chance of a optical drive for the Air or a replaceable battery ?

You can purchase an external optical drive for the MBA. I did. If you're hoping for an internal version, don't hold your breath. You're missing the point of having a Macbook Air.

maaan i really hope this is true. i want a new mbp for my birthday on october 5th but i am willing to save up a little bit extra and wait till the 14th. i love the current mbp look, but for some reason i feel like i want the latest and greatest apple has to offer but if they go aluminum with black keys im going to buy the "previous" version. i guess i just want to see what they have to offer before i take a plunge! ohhh what a long wait...gonna pick up a new nano to pass time! :apple:
