Apple Notebook Updates on October 14th? 120GB MacBook Air HDD?

Uni students...wait?

After much browsing on here I felt this was most helpful. To buy or not to buy the popular Macbook range for school next year seems to be the 'it' question by far!

I'm currently on a HP Pav v6000. The last time I used a Mac was in Primary School. I'm 27... :eek: I just had this PC returned after 6 weeks at the repair place. A new motherboard was needed... the sound just went after 18 months.

For this reason, and by the recommendation of many, the Macbook seems my next choice of purchase. I can wait until October but I agree with most people on here that a purchase needs to be made soon for most students and to wait any longer than mid October would be stupid on their part.

Love this site by the way, just registered! Here's hoping they release some info soon as to put us all out of our misery...

I want one NOW! :p

I can feel it in me waters... it's in the cosmos... somewhere... soon...

I hope Apple start to give us more options,

my dream mac would be a smaller mac pro with only one cpu, two hard drive bays and able to use the same gfx cards as the mac pro.

on the gfx note i wish apple would ask ati/nvidia to release each year at mac world or wdc a new low/mid/ high end gfx card for the mac pro
 
finger crossed for october 14th, guys. I too am a(n upcoming) college student who is holding off his purchase of an apple notebook to wait for updates.

I'm personally hoping for a major revision, as in aluminum macbook, new macbook pro enclosures, etc. I would also love it more if apple included a discrete graphics solution in the macbook, but I guess that would blur the lines between mb and mbp too much, wouldn't it?

I'm also hoping for more choices, at least when it comes to video cards.
 
It better be october first. ive been needing a new computer for a long time. my 4 year old dell inspiron 9100 laptop is on its last legs.i can maybe watch videos if theyre small... maybe, dont even ask about streaming video.

I really dont know if i can wait much longer than oct 14. i need power for heavy amounts of photo and video editing.
 
also what about an option for a black mbp. that would be very nice. i like black backgrounds for watching movies, photo stuff, etc
 
i dont get it, why cant the interviewer just get straight to the question... " When will the MacBooks get refreshed ? " Instead of beating around the bush like macbook refresh as your famous one more thing...
 
Wife just lost my last one!

My wife has just managed to lose my 17"MBP, she left it on the pavement outside a casino! Great. Actually it is as I was going to have one hell of a job persuading her I needed a new one when they were updated anyway and now she hasn't got a leg to stand on. Thanks Love ;)
 
I like the MPB design, so it would be fine with it. But i just hate all those MBP pictures with that keyboard. Very ugly imo.

Processor Bump, Blu-Ray, standard 4 Gb RAM & Nvidea 9xxxx would be great.
 
Take A Look At This Apple!!!

The ipod "let's rock event" barely got slightly higher positive votes than negative ones. And the macbooks are getting TRIPLE positive votes!!!!!!

It was UGLY. me - I have a white macbook with a black incase and the black key color keybord protector. Now that is sweet looking.

time goes by so slowly....! i've been waiting to get a black macbook and almost pressed the 'buy' button a couple of weeks ago....until in the last min checked here....so the wait continues... bahoo!:eek:

I agree with this but the idea that OSX is worth $1400 isn't right either. Apple don't need to cut prices to "fight" with the Windows OEMs, but the value prospect of their current laptop lineups is rather poor.

Thank-you, I didn't think of insuring my MacBook Pro and the iPod Touch that came with it. (Student deal). I just added insurance coverage to my homeowner's policy against accidental damage and theft for all my electronic gear for my home and for my daughter at university up to $5000, for $20 a year. (Liberty Mutual).

My old Powerbook G4 800 broke a year ago, and I've been waiting ever since for the upcoming upgrade -- BUT --

My wife just got a MacBook Pro 15 yesterday on a grant, brought it home to show me. What an incredible machine the current model is! Talk about industrial design. She installed Fusion with Windows XP on it, and even that looked better than the Windows machine I use at work. She has been using a state of the art IBM (or is it Lenovo?) laptop, loved it - and I guarantee it doesn't hold a candle to the MacBook Pro. There is absolutely no reason for a PC user not to have one. She can run her Windows only scientific programs on it, and I suggested doing everything else in OS X, especially email and internet, so as not to worry about viruses spyware etc.

So there is no way if any of you get the current model you will be disappointed. And if a new model comes in next month, I am sure it will be another wow of a computer too.
