I can't wait! I've been waiting for a MacBook since forever. Hopefully, they will lower the prices a little bit, like they did with the ipods (of course, on a larger scale) :D
But my great expectation is a 15'' MacBook

Mine is a MB with a dedicated graphics card. :(

Is it seriously too much to ask for a MacPro revision? I mean, come on... the macbook and the macbook pro have had their fun in the sun, lots of updates, plenty of use... but as a professional in need of a super computer, I feel neglected by Apple who use to be the leader in prosumer video editing.
If you need it now, buy a current Mac Pro. The last revision featured incredible machines. There is a good chance that you won't be seeing a revision to them for a while now. I won't be surprised if we don't hear much until sometime next year. And the next revision might just be an incremental improvement.

FINALLY!!! I've been waiting since February. Even if it isn't true, the fact that someone in the world apparently remembers that Apple makes computers at all makes me feel better... Now if only Apple themselves would remember...

And by the way, did Steve look even less healthy yesterday to anyone else? His voice was all high and... He didn't seem well. "Not dead" doesn't mean "not sick." :(

I'm holding off buying a 10" Asus Eee PC in the hope that Apple announce something along those lines very soon.

I've already got a Mac laptop (& an iMac), but something like a 10" Mini MacBook would see an immediate purchase from me, assuming it was competitively priced... & that's coming from someone who usually waits for a 2nd gen model before buying!

I own the air, and would love to buy an upgrade. The MBA is so close to my perfect portable.

For me, the critical upgrades would be:

1. Bigger SSD
2. Faster GPU
3. 4 gigs of memory
4. Fix the heat/core shut down issue

Nice to have:

4. Longer batter life
5. Faster is always good. (although I'd rather take another 2 hours of battery life.)
6. any other magic Apple wants to throw in.

Does the HP run OSX? How long does this HP take to load or shut down, Environmentally sound?

So running OSX, and faster loading times are worth an additional $1400 over an otherwise $1300 machine? Tell me that to my face.

All of Apple's notebooks need price slashes in half to be price-competitive. OSX is not worth $1400.

One can only hope this is true. I'm rather tired of updates from the iPod company.
+1
( I dislike doing that '+1' thing but couldn't have said it better myself)

I certainly hope that this rumour is wrong and the refreshes come well before October , hopefully next Tuesday.

So it's safe to say the Mac Mini is dead?

Over a year since it was last updated... still using the crappy GMA 950 from over two years ago...

Yeah, it's dead.

Don't say that Clive , be strong !.... Apple may well be about to surprise us all , they won't drop the 'low end ' Mac , not now , it is too important a machine as it brings in new customers (even if just for a look)& thus gives the opportunity for the 'Apple up-sell' and when one gets hooked on Apple Mac computers  ,it will imo be updated but something pretty amazing , something that will dock with the iMac is a possibility , and soon(saw some patents pics on here a while back) but yeah , the Mini lives on...... Long live the Mini ! .....bring on the new portables !

Yes please! New macbooks!
I hope they change the design, i don't much like the white plastic macbooks.

From reading about past B2S promotions, new iPods have never been included, but I'm not sure about new computer models. In the UK the offer hasn't started yet and it's quite possible that the offer might sit in the time frame as the new MacBooks..so does anyone know from the past that new computer models are included in the Back to School offers at all?

Is it just me or does the less interesting laptops get more attention with updates these days than the desktop mac. Back in the day, there used to be many different Mac desktops to choose from... now its the MacPro or the iMac.

I need a new desktop mac with high end processing ability, something that can render HDV well, and has an excellent graphics card with the power to back it up.

Why feel neglected? Everyone who's working in the film and television community seems to be well served with the current macPros. If you're working in HDV, you've got no excuse to wait- you won't be using much of the processing potential of even a midrange macPro tower that you can buy today. I'm STILL working on a G5 Quad, and it serves me just fine for working in SD uncompressed 10 bit, DVCPRO50HD, ProRes422 HQ... All those things you listed above you'll get if you buy a new macPro now.

There's no point in updating the macPros again until they can release them with Bluray Burners and Firewire 3200. One of which Apple isn't supporting yet, and the other which isn't ready yet.

Your argument is extremely weak. That is like saying that Ferrari needs to slash the prices of their cars in half to be "price-competitive". Says who? You? I think companies like Ferrari (and Apple) are running their businesses just fine without your "advice". There's no rule that says you have to sell your products cheap. Ever heard of phrases such as "perceived value" or "what the market will bear"?

Obviously many of us believe that it is totally worth the additional $1400, or maybe even more. You couldn't pay me to buy an HP running Windows these days. Even if someone gave me an HP running Vista as a gift, I would turn around and sell it and use the money towards the purchase of another Mac.

I would gladly say that to anyone's face.

Please! give us a new form factor, not just an incremental improvement. Even the sexiest things get boring with time.

Well, haven't read in Ferrari forums recently :D

But I can assure you, that I really want a kicka$$ system. I'm definitely in the market for a new laptop, as my PB G4 battery is dying.

I don't like the current MBPs, as they feel so...well...middle class.

I wish I had a nice lappy with BluRay, FW3200 and the other cranky new HW. Well, I'm prepared to sit this one out til Nehalem, but nevertheless...I so sorely wish, Apple would deliver another 3.800 € kicka$$ laptop in 15" format like the one I still use and love. I never felt bitter for spending so much money on my PB, as it still stacks up quite well after 4 years.

And this is what I want my new laptop to be - a premium machine worth it's premium (but not expensive) price. Something, the current 15-incher just doesn't fit in.

That's why I like the Air. But that just isn't tailored towards me with it's obedience to the thin mantra.
