youtube ad blocker here we gooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! + play music in the background.

this is the only thing I'm thankful of this appl eu saga - third party web engines. Hope this will allow to have full privacy and adblock tools so no more ads from google or any other company.

BUT I think this will be also bad for the market - chrome will kill everyone, and would not be surprised if fcb would create their own "browser" :)

If they don’t hate monopolies, then why all the talk of Apple being a monopoly?

This isn’t about competition. This is about the EU wanting to be the boss and thinking they know best. They’re a government. They DON’T know best. Instead, they’re doing what governments do…ruin things.
You say that without any evidence to backing up your statement. There a reason why we in Eu have a high level of trust in our governments and institutions, while the Americans have little to no trust in their institutions.

And competition doesn’t need mandates to force crap that the majority of users don't want, as evidenced by the minuscule amount of users who use these things on the other platform that allows it.

Well that’s because people don’t know the first thing about EU law. EU couldn’t care less about monopolies. They care about the actions being fair and consistent allowing for competition on merit for as much as possible.

And again as evidence on your obsession with “users”. EU cares ONLY about Undertakers:

Thus, the main objectives of the EU competition law are to maintain openness and to unify the internal market; to ensure economic efficiency in the marketplace; to ensure the conditions of effective competition and competitiveness.

The term "undertaking" is a Eurospeak word for any person(s) or firms in an enterprise, and is used to describe those "engaged in an economic activity".
The term excludes:
  1. Employees, who are by their "very nature the opposite of the independent exercise of an economic or commercial activity",and
  2. Public services based on "solidarity" for a "social purpose".
The EU isn’t bringing us competition. They forced something on us because they felt like pushing people around. And in doing so…have a direct hand in allowing a significant monopoly to form. You can say “competition” all you want, but do you really want a world where Google is completely dominant for web browsing and there’s nothing else? Because that’s what the ********* in the EU just made possible. Period.

You think monopolies are bad inherently. EU don’t think Monopolies are bad as long as the market is fair and the merits made them the winner. If Safari(WebKit) gets replaced by chrome(Blink) when the browser can compete on equal terms, then that’s apple’s responsibility for failing to compete with other browsers.

It’s not EU’s Problem if Apple can’t compete on merit and a superior product and needs artificial protective barriers in place to maintain their market dominance.

Just how EU don’t care if Microsoft ends up with 100% of the market as long as no anti competitive behavior was involved and it was fair competition

And I am yet awaiting for our fellow "opponents" to provide actual data that backs what they say. So far I have seen zero data from them (and they actually provided proof about billions of potential damage walking into the App Store and then having to remove that again) and all the data from the EU to back up their decisions.

This development in the EU will force Apple to improve on iOS security and their Gatekeeper app and it will also have a positive effect on devices that do not allow sideloading. All haters of sideloading will benefit from this.
If one app does something that it shouldn't and Apple fixes this security hole on the OS level, that is one less thing to worry about where an App Store reviewer can drink and drive and nothing bad will happen.

Finally, looks like the only way to force Aplpe to right for customers is only to force them to do so. I hope custom stores and alternative software will be available not only in Europe but for everyone.

Customers? Customers were already happy with Apple. App pricing is low, there is a huge variety, and widespread support.

Too many people are projecting their own preferences onto "everyone" and "customers" as a whole.
