The other day i went on to Best Buys website and I was able to order an apple smart keyboard, it will be available for pickup this week. Shortly after they were sold out but I just checked now and its in stock for delivery by wednesday but no in store pickup.

At the moment (January 18, 2016), the Apple Store lists the Apple Pencil as "not available" for pick-up at any local stores, with a delivery time "approximated" at 2-3 weeks from the online Apple Store. Best Buy has been sold out since Christmas and, after inquiring, local stores as well as the BB online store have no information on when they may have any more in stock...

Does anyone know the reason for the lack of Apple Pencil availability? Was there a manufacturing snafu or firmware issue? Or is this just a lack of manufacturing/logistical foresight on the part of Apple's retail branch?

I'd really like to get one and figured that after the Christmas rush was over, in-stock items would reappear, but this is dragging on much longer than I anticipated...

Ideas?

Thanks in advance. :)
