or get a nexus one. as soon as it hit the market there was a porn app for it. forgot the name, but you can find it in the android central forums

I don't want a porn app, I just want an open platform with no censorship. But I'm glad that option is out there in case I do want that on my phone.

I'll be getting the first decent Android device that comes to AT&T. They announced the Motorola Backflip, but that's not a good phone, I hope one of the HTC devices or the N1 comes out on AT&T.

I certainly won't be buying another iPhone at the very least, that's for sure. And it's not because I want any of those boob apps, I don't, but I don't want a platform where someone else decides what's best for me.

Go with Droid. It could corner this junior high market--and its "Transformer" advertising already targets that group. You'll be much happier. Then you can go to the Droid forum and talk about how much aapl sucks for not having many boob apps.

I don't think the sexual content should be on the app store but I understand that some people want that content. Just make an adult section in the app store and let users block that if they choose to do so. Overall though I am happy that Apple is cleaning up the store.

Good riddance.

I'm as raging a liberal as anyone and love freedom of speech, but seeing iBoobs or HoxSexSuperHotGirls in the top apps makes me really lose faith in humanity and I'd rather see more worthwhile apps (or at least more...content-heavy apps) be celebrated instead.

Feel free to lose faith in humanity then - there's no reason why such apps should removed from the App Store.

Well .. I am not living in the US nor did I buy my phone there?

I am not getting upset about iBoobs, infact I could care less for those apps. What bothers me is that Apple can just decide, we don't want that, we are gonna cut it from the store (and we are not talking illegal things).
What if they decide to cut video players next? Or only allow you to connect to .mac mail and no other? Or not allow streaming music services any more? .. where do you draw the line?

I personally think everything should be in allowed and then put tags on them so everybody can do as happy rolls.

Dude, I would imagine that every store in most every country has the right to decide what they want to sell and what they don't want to sell.

When you purchased an iPhone you knew that you would have to buy all of your app from the Apple App store. You knew that right?

You knew that Apple was not going to be selling porn apps on the App store.

So, they let a few porn-lite apps slide through, they felt it was getting out-of-hand, and they decided to clean it up. All within their right.

You don't go into [Insert your local store name here - I will use Wal-Mart] expecting to buy porn magazines. Yes, Wal-Mart sells Maxim, but if Maxim gets into porn, then Wal-Mart has the right to stop selling Maxim.

What the heck is the big deal?

Really?

Wal-Mart does not have a monopoly on magazines. If I want to buy a Penthouse, there are plenty of other stores I can go to. But Apple has a monopoly on iPhone apps. If I want to buy an app for my iPhone, I have no other choice.

People need to stop bringing Wal-Mart into this. It is not even close to a valid comparison.

My friend has an Android. One of the first Apps he downloaded and installed was an anti-malware app. When we were at luch he was telling me that he was concerned that the anti-malware app he installed might actually be malware.

LOL -- Have fun with your new Android purchase.

incredible.

I can't believe how many people are OK with this. I wonder, how many would also be fine with Apple blocking web sites from their iMac?

I don't know. I feel a little boxed in lately. My eight core Mac Pro, with 18gb RAM, heats up when my niece plays Farmville on Facebook. I want to love Apple TV, but there is just better quality stuff out there, and who knows, Apple might decide to start pulling movies someday. I can only get apps for my iPhone from a gatekeeper who can change the rules at the flick of a switch. ......and, oh yeah, because it's a first gen iPhone, I still can't send or receive MMS, because that would have been impossible, right?

None of it feels very open to me.

No, it's not open. It's a very closed platform and not in the spirit of what Apple used to be. "Think Different" my ass.

Interesting I haven't had any issues with malware on my Droid.

it's about time

I'm so glad they are doing this. If it becomes an issue, then just make a specific adult section. An area that parents can turn off access for their kids iphone or ipod touch. It would also be easier for those who want to see that stuff as they could go straight to that section of the app store.

First, they didn't give the iPhone camera any flash.
Next, they wouldn't allow Adobe Flash.
Now, they're banning any apps with flashing..

It's almost as if there's a pattern... I just can't quite put my finger on it..

But Apple has a monopoly on iPhone apps. If I want to buy an app for my iPhone, I have no other choice..

By Jove, I think you've got it. Apple.....has.....a....monopoly.....on....the.....software............applications....which.....make.....its.....product.......more......functional.
If you want porn, use safari.

All Apple would have to do is have a setting available to allow loading of non app store apps and this whole thing would be a non issue. Most people of course wouldn't turn it on, but those not happy with the app store selection would have the option to add alternative apps. This is what Android has, of course Google pretty much allows everything in the market so it's not very necessary. On the iPhone this would make perfect sense and everybody would be happy. But no...Steve has to have complete control over everything.

The big deal is that if I need these magazines, I can go the gas station around the corner and buy one .. I can only buy stuff of iTunes for my phone though. And the choice of what to ban and what not seems quite arbitrary to me .. and I don't know what is gonna be next.

Well I knew the appstore was controlled by Apple and I knew there was no flash. At the time I bought my phone there where no good Android phones on the market, so the iPhone was the best choice at the time.
The thing I don't get though is that attitude, that once I made the decision to buy a product I have to keep up with all the good and bads that come along with it. Just because I knew apps would be reviewed and still bought the phone, doesn't mean I have to like it and much less does it mean I have to agree with them changing the policies. There is a ton of things I like about my phone .. the appstore and the review process is not one of them.

The Wal-Mart comparison is valid.

There are other phones out there... You are free to choose one of those.

Go with me on this -- Lets compare the time when you were buying your phone to someone who is getting ready to move to a new home:

This person has a choice to move to two differnt towns (Phones).

One town has several different stores that sell a wide variety of products. Some of these products are great, but many are porn based... The worst kind of porn.

The other town has one store. It sells many great products and refuses to sell any porn products. (Although it has some issues of Sports-Illustrated Swim Suite issue.)

You, buy purchasing an iPhone, made the choice to move to the town with one store...

YOU obviously made a mistake. This is YOUR fault if you are not happy that Apple is banning iGiggleBoobs. YOU should have bought a differnt phone if your entire decision is based on the iGiggleBoobs being available for you to purchase.
:)

I bought my iPhone 3G on launch day the day when the App Store first opened up. At the time, I had no idea Apple would be censoring the apps for content. If I knew that, I never would've bought the iPhone.

I think it's good! Perverts need to just use Safari big deal! And the ones against it can go do thier own app stores... problem solved!

Open source starts looking better and better. I don't have any of those types of apps on my phone, but I like knowing that if I want them, I can get them. I guess I like my freedom of choice in the matter.
