Looks like they have a new model # for this keyboard. The new keyboard shows it’s compatible with older iPads. I hope the older keyboard works with the new iPads!

Hey it came to my eye, hat this new Magic Keyboard for 12.9“ is not compatible to my iPad Pro 12.9“ 2020 regarding to Apple Store. Can the really be true?

Wonder how it will look like with backlit. For the current black one, the text is white, and the text itself is transparent that will be brightened up with backlit.

Also - since the new 12.9 iPad Pro is 0.5mm thicker, will my 2020 OG Magic Keyboard still compatible if I used it with a 2021 iPad Pro?

The magic keyboard has had a price drop in the uk of £20 on both sizes...

11 - £279 (previous £299)
12.9 - £329 (previous £349)

I'm curious to see the white magic keyboard with the space grey ipad pro. All of the images show it with a silver iPad Pro, which I get, but I'm very curious to see it with the other one. I usually don't buy the silver models, but I am REALLY liking the white keyboard

Why would a user buy something with 3" less screen diameter?
I firmly believe that the approach is coming to buy what you can afford… and with the cross platform app availability brought by the M1, it’s really just becoming a tiered function game… do you want an ipad Pro with touch screen or a MacBook Pro with builtin keyboard and 4 USB ports, maybe just a bigger screen for desktop model? All basically can run same applications with similar ram and ssd options… just a matter of what is more important to the individual user.

When creating content I hardly ever want a smaller device. Three inch less is a lot when working with media for example.
I’m not going to transition my indesign workflow to a device less nice to work with, as an example.

... so does this mean the current (2020) Magic Keyboard will fit the just-launched (2021) 12.9" iPad?
The previous Magic Keyboard (model A1998) isn't compatible with the new 5th gen. iPad Pro 12.9". The newly released Magic Keyboard (both white and black) are however compatible with 3th, 4th, and 5th gen. iPad Pro 12.9". This is due to the slight increase in thickness.

For the 11" iPad Pro the previous version of the Magic Keyboard will still work with the new iPad Pro. This is because without the mini-LED display there is no change in dimensions.

Sucks if you're like me and already have a Magic Keyboard but want to upgrade just the iPad.

God I literally now have ZERO reasons to upgrade from my 2018 12.9".

M1 50% faster? Erm... the A12X ain't slow. Ever. Sorry.
16GB of RAM vs 4? Yea that'd be nice. But erm... 6 (2020 models) is enough. You can't multitask anyway. This benefits just a bit of drawing apps and Safari. So then...
MiniL'E'D - very incremental. Wake me up when they go MicroLED. Very odd they didn't go OLED years ago like Samsung with their tablets (or Apple with their iPhones!)

Buy the same f keyboard one more time for another 350$... sure...

I can’t understand how can the new magic keyboard be compatible with 3rd 4th and 5th but the old one isn’t compatible with the 5th gen???

Surely they will be the same keyboard?

Gorgeous!
I was beginning to hate the black one I have, somehow keeps smudge of fine dust on it
There was a time between pristine and now where it worried me. Now, it’s got a nice random shading all over it such that I’ve grown to like the look and feel of it now. Wasn’t expecting that.
