Until India abstained from condemning Russia for invading Ukraine, I would have agreed with you. Now not so much. Whereas many in the West would have applauded Apple for doing this a few months ago, something tells me this will get mixed reviews at best. Why would consumers in North America and Europe want to buy phones from a country that states that Russia is an 'ally'? Production in India might not be any less morally repugnant than making phones in the PRC. See https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-60857406.
Versus China, who actively supports the Russian war effort and calls sanctions illegal. Abstention or support, choose your poison

Do you mean the same India that is refusing to work with everyone else on sanctioning Russia over Ukraine and purposely buying oil to prop up Putin's economy? Okay then.
Yes, that India which has an independent foreign policy and will not be told what to do. The amount of oil India buys from Russia in month is less than what Europe buys from Russia in an afternoon. India like every other country in the world is doing what is good for her people. Also, India does not believe in singing the popular tune - foreign relations dont works that way. India-Russia co-operation is time tested.

Also, why should India do anything at all?
Shouldn’t everyone care about a country going rouge and attacking it’s neighbor in a way that could starve millions of people, including in their own country? Shouldn’t everyone care about bombs being dropped on the heads of innocent little babies and grandmas? I would think everyone would, and should want to stop that.

Apple doesn’t have to make things in the U.S. (although that would be nice). But ideally for me, Apple would make things in countries that aren’t politically polarizing or have human rights issues. I don't know what countries would fit that bill and still be competent at assembly and financially doable, but I would definitely like to see things moved out of China, and India definitely does not wow me either. There needs to be additional options.

Of course people care and nobody wants to see innocent civilians being killed (I hope), but most countries’ governments won’t do anything unless it directly involves their own core interests. I didn’t see all of Europe in a rush to sanction countries on this wide of a scale when conflicts and atrocities weren’t happening on their doorstep. If you want to be seen as principled you have to at the very least be consistent.

Not gonna happen that quick. Nothing can match the production volume and speed of the Chinese factories. Nobody is even close. The Chinese factories are extremely difficult to replicate in other countries.

Maybe for iPhone 24, but not 14.
Yeah, it’s easy - when you can completely omit the requirement to work in a way respectful to human life, children, wellbeing and the environment … if our governments were as horrific for humanity as the CCP we’d hand their asses to them. Except we’d all be oppressed…

Walk the talk. Boycott Apple.

Agreed, but both have the same effect and both make war in Europe more likely. India has been buying cheap Russian oil, thereby weakening sanctions. They bought more than a billion dollars worth of arms per year from Russia over the last 5 years. This is not just about failing to condemn. Being 'non-aligned' has become an excuse.

Of course India has the absolute right do whatever it sees as being in its best interest (it's not as though it has a foreign power invading its territory to force a change in foreign policy). But then again, Western consumers can exercise choice as well, and I, for one, will not buy any product from India until the country formally condemns Russia's invasion of Ukraine. And Western governments can reduce their aid, trade, investment, defence cooperation, and movement of people with India if voters pressure them to do so.

The PRC is a lost cause, but I expected more from the world's largest democracy. I am disappointed that India does not value self-determination enough to rebuke Russia for invasion, murder, looting and rape. Just saying India is acting selfishly simply restates the obvious and makes it no less immoral. Apple should reconsider this move.

India must choose if they go with Russia or rest of the world… its time to move production of inportant goods (eg. Apple :) out of China… I do not care to pay higher price…

Your whole paragraphs sums up India’s position: “Mind their own business” When EU buys cheap oil from Russia during sanctions everyone goes shhhhh…. But the moment India (a neutral party) buys the same oil, everyone shows their ugly hypocrite faces. Poverty, Lack of infrastructure were once problems in US, EU and even China. But eventually one overcomes them with local manufacturing and profitable trade deals. This is precisely what India is doing and not being in part of someone else’s war. This will be the way forward and let the barking dogs continue to bark.

So an EU country failed to condemn the Russian invasion in the UN? And are EU countries increasing or decreasing their trade with Russia as an consequence of Russia's current actions? Come on.

Ask the Iraqis how they feel.
Iraq is our neighbor that we tried to conquer to expand the size of our country? Millions of Iraqis are starving?

You better go back and read what I wrote, as you are jumping to a whole different conversation now. Trying to compare America to what Russia is doing now is a joke and a false equivalency at best.

Apple relying on india , china etc is such un-american thing. Shame on them ! All the excuses about not finding employees, I don't buy it. Everyday I see companies shipping jobs to india and firing employees here and with a straight face making up excuses about not finding employees in US and preaching that they care about the community bla bla. Everyday, I see my job expanding it's Indian office while shrinking the US employees by firing. It is disgusting what this corporations do continually. I see Indian managers in US companies pushing for shipping jobs to India for their quick profit while they smile at US employees and pretend they are friends of us. It is a shame, corporations support India, a shame.

While I don't think anybody in the US sees losing jobs overseas as a good thing, I would hardly call it 'un-American'. I would call it 'inevitable'. The US needs to improve its strengths in technology and claudication, but that means fewer jobs to go around for people who have limited education. We need to think about what happens when there are simply not enough jobs for Americans due to cheaper labor overseas, and advances in robotics and AI. That day is coming rapidly, and it won't just be blue-collar jobs impacted.
