Apple today updated its online store for refurbished products to add the new 27-inch iMac models that were first released in June of 2017.

This is the first time those particular machines have been available through the refurbished store since their introduction at the 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference. The iMacs feature Kaby Lake processors, faster SSDs, and AMD discrete graphics.

Apple has a dozen refurbished iMac models available at the current time, with prices discounted by approximately 15 percent. An entry-level model with 8GB RAM, a 1TB Fusion Drive, a 3.5GHz i5 processor, and a Radeon Pro 575 is priced at $1,699, for example, a $300 discount off the standard price.

Apple has a range of configurations available, from low-end to top-of-the-line. As with all refurbished products, stock will fluctuate regularly based on the machines Apple is getting in for repair.

All of Apple's refurbished products go through a rigorous refurbishment process before being offered for sale, which includes inspection, repairs, cleaning, and repackaging. Refurbished Macs come with a one-year warranty that can be extended with an AppleCare+ purchase. For more tips on purchasing a refurbished product, make sure to check out our guide.

From India, so hence, 'm gonna ask:

Who is out there that buys in 2017 and also sells that in 2017 before the end of 2017?

I don't understand. Is my understanding of Refurbish wrong?

Damn, only 2015 for me. If the base 27" 2017 iMac gets lower, it'll be a steal.

I don't understand. It is my understanding of Refurbish is wrong.

I suspect those are from people taking advantage of the 14-day return policy when they regret their drive selection or decide the 5K screen isn't quite perfect enough.

It also appears that the whatever 2017 refurbish existed have sold out because I'm not seeing any either.

The unit could have had an issue so it was returned within the 14-day exchange window for a new model or perhaps someone bought a lower-tier version and changed their mind, exchanging it for a more powerful one.

I try and buy refurb where I can (I always get top-spec so the savings are maximized), but the 2-year No Interest financing offer on my Apple Card ends in August and was not sure I could find a top-end configuration so I just bought new.

Why buy refurbished when you can buy new for less when on sale and with no tax at several online online retailers, like Adorama or Frye’s?

$400 dollars more than LG's 5K display and you get a full computer and better aesthetics to boot. That's a great deal.

None in the UK store at the moment. Which is probably a good thing with the new iPhone coming up!

Apple's refurbished Products are excellent and go through a stringent process for inspection, which in some cases, are less likely to have fewer issues over new products out of the box. It's still a discount none the less.

indeed. bought my wife a refurb 13" MBP in 2011. still working flawlessly. :knocksonwood:

I did the same. 2 year no interest financing, education discount, and free headphones. Not too bad of a deal.

Argh. Are they all sold out already, or am I just on one of their servers that hasn't updated. I only see the 2015.

I really want a modern one. My old 27in is getting long in the tooth.

Sometimes people take them back within the Return Policy period (probably because a significant other made them) ;)

I keep hearing this mantra but I've never read what exactly this process is and how it differs from it's original factory inspection.

My October 2009 21.5" is right there with yours! The screen barely works: I have it hooked up to an external monitor. The computer itself still does everything else, but far slower than it did 8 years ago. I have it running the latest MacOS, and the experience is simply slower than back with Snow Leopard.

Typically, brand new model refurbs will sell out quickly. That the refurbs were advertised on MacRumors will sell them out even quicker.

I suspect those are from people taking advantage of the 14-day return policy when they regret their drive selection or decide the 5K screen isn't quite perfect enough.
I returned my i7 (1 TB SSD) because of fan noise.

Ordered the i5 7600 (1 TB SSD) instead. Happier. Slower to encode video but does it quietly. Also, because I got this one later, it qualified for the free Beats headphones. Now I have these Beats headphones at my workplace.

Dunno about those two specifically, but most of those third party stores do not allow returns, esp. with configure-to-order models (like mine above with the 1 TB SSD).

Dunno about the refurbs, but Apple allows returns in the first 14 days for new machines if you order from them directly.

My 2010 27" i7 works perfectly. However, it has an HD (slow) and USB2 (also slow). I am currently using it as an external monitor for my 2017 27" iMac.
