People buy pre owned cars every day, and trust their life with it.

Im sure you will be fine with a second hand tablet lol
I bought a pre owned car and couldn't figure out how to connect my iPhone to it. I took it to the dealership but they wanted over $100 to even look at it. Three months later I watched a bunch of YouTube troubleshooting videos and found out that the radio unit or whatever wasn't even connected. A friend of mine who said he worked on car audio tried to fix it and made it worse because now none of my dashboard works, no lights or gauges or anything. It has been three years and I still can't listen to my iPhone in my car or see how fast it's going and the turn signals don't work. My washer fluid does work. None of the lights work. How can you recommend that this user buy a pre owned iPad? It is a dangerous gamble. Please learn from my mistakes and buy a new iPad and don't let your friends near it

Most of the Macs and iPads that I've bought in my 20+ years with Apple have been refurbs. I still have a refurb 15" MBP from 2012 (that my daughter now uses since I transitioned to iPad). I've only bought one new iPad out of five.

They come with the same warranty as new, and you can get the same amount of AppleCare as a new one.

With iPads you even get a new outer case and battery.

Plus, you can put it through its paces for two weeks, and return it if you're not satisfied without having to provide a reason.

So comparing this to refurb cars is just not equivalent.

Yeah if only people ran their professional, free, highly trafficked blogs like you and I run ours am I right brother? We wouldn't see such unacceptable use of breaking tag then am I right
Free? I haven't seen a free blog in years. Where are they? Most blogs, such as this one that we are chatting on are covered in ads. Ads are a form of payment.

Back to the blog post... I keep going back and forth on the 11 vs 12.9 size. I have the 10.5 Pro right now and it's heavy and small. We got a 12.9 and I like it, but it seems way too big for me to take out of the house and I worry I would be annoyed after an hour of walking and reading on it. I just want an exact 1:1 ratio to a sheet of paper.

Was it a Tesla?

This 2020 11-inch iPad Pro is a better deal than the iPad Air 4.

  • Storage:
    • 128 GB vs 64 GB
  • RAM:
    • 6 GB vs 4 GB (RAM has been the limiting factor in iOS/iPadOS support lately)
  • Display:
    • 120 Hz vs 60 Hz
    • 600 nits vs 500 nits
  • Speaker:
    • Quad vs Stereo
  • Processor:
    • A12Z vs A14 (A12Z wins in multi-core and graphics, A14 wins in single-core)
  • Camera:
    • 12MP Wide + 10MP Ultra Wide + LiDAR vs 12MP Wide
    • Front portrait mode vs -

This is probably how I’m going to purchase my iPad Pro when it’s time to upgrade from my 2017. I’m over the days of the fancy box especially if it’s been tested and certified by Apple itself.
Can’t recommend it enough. I’ve gotten two now off the refurb site and they’ve both been tremendous. My Air 2 just died after about 5 years of use but my 10.5 pro is still rocking! At this price it’s not much of a deal, but when it comes down I would highly recommend.

Was it a Tesla?
No, it was a Ford. The state took my Tesla away because of a handful of minor Smart Summon accidents. After I win this case and pay off attorneys I'm definitely going back to the Tesla so I can connect my iPhone

How much are you paying to use this blog? I have just been pulling this bad boy up in any web browser on any device whenever I want like I own the place

Okay, you have convinced me. I will try one more pre owned car but if it's another unmitigated disaster I expect at minimum an apology

It's mostly the same as the 2018 model, which I had before. But the M1 12.9" is in another league altogether.
Mine will be delivered tomorrow, just in time for my summer holiday. The first plus of corona, otherwise I’d be lazing on a tropical beach when the delivery man arrives.

Oh, nevermind haha
also, so you understand how apple's refurb works — they are selling devices that failed during the testing process and were fixed — not something that broke on the customer. that's why when you get a refurb product — it's brand new.

You could trade in your iPad to apple and upgrade to M1 for $200-$300.
I know but the value add of the newest iPad is still a hard sell for me to upgrade. In other words, I don’t expect to gain enough benefit for my uses for the ultimate cost involved.

Bummer, I was hoping you were talking about the miniLED one. :) I already have the previous 11" iPad Pro.

I think this is the best-value iPad out of the 2018 Pro, 2020 Pro and Air 4.

The refurbished 2018 Pro is $90 less but you lose 2 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The extra $90 is very much worth it.

Have been considering upgrading from my iPad Air 3, but as I just use it to stream, the IPP would most likely be overkill for what I use it for. Plus, no complaints about the Air 3 as it's still holding it's own.

All these price reductions give me the vibe that Apple is going to reduce the price of some iPads. They have more they can shave off these since its their chips in them, not like the intel macs they do not heavily discount even though they don't sell well at this point. Apple can have a strategy to undercut the competition by making products that android and PC makers cannot make for the same price due to the components they use to build them. Even $100 less would do that. If these deals fly off the shelf they would get data back on how much lowering the price raises the demand for them. The demand is there, the willingness to fork over so much when you already know that last few hundred is an Apple tax is enough to keep people away.

Apple probably has ridiculously cheap contracts on glass and aluminum manufacturing as well as chip factories and assembly plants. They could reduce prices for a few years to bankrupt a few competitors or get them out of the market Apple is in. Its not a long term strategy to lower prices, just one to do so long enough raise them later once people who want quality have no choice but to go Apple. That was the case with iPhones until android caught up. They could have 5 or more years of being king of the hill at their new lower price points until competitors figure out ways to reduce costs while upping perceived quality. I hope I am right because Apples insane prices are the reason I stopped buying from them regularly. And when I do its mostly used models that are priced reasonably for what you get.

My 2012 15” rMBP is still my daily driver, as crazy as that sounds. It’s been one of the best investments I’ve ever made from a productivity standpoint. (Well, other than buying APPL at a dime)

No. It’s not free. I look at ads. Ads are a form of payment. It’s a cost.
My poll data does not support your position. Results below for your edification

Poll Question: What does it mean when something is offered or given to you for "free"?

AnswerVotesPercent
Money doesn't change hands but ultimately nothing is perfectly "free" so it's understood that someone, somewhere, somehow pays for it

If I walk to a public park in a town where I don't pay taxes and see an ad stapled to a telephone pole then the park visit wasn't free because the ad viewing and energy consumed by my body are a form of payment, and I should correct anyone that tells me otherwise4jasontv and friends~0%
