Any ideas why the iPad is at least E20 cheaper in Spain...

Germany, France and Italy all E499, Spain E479 for the 16GB wifi

Strangely Germany E714 for the 64GB wifi Spain E679

???

At 16%, Spain has the lowest VAT of these countries. And Germany has an additional tax for computer manufacturers.

The 3G data plan for the iPad is $35 Cdn for 5gb. I personally do not see this as being enough data, so I guess I'll just have to wait. Nothing magical, evolutionary or wonderful here....yet.

Well, if it means Rogers is going to let me use data on a pay-as-I-need-it plan, and at $15/month, I'd say that's a pretty good start. Right now my only other option for 3G data is $25-30 and up per month on a 3-year contract.

I've wanted an iPhone since Day 1 but I couldn't then (and still can't) bring myself to sign onto a contract that will double my current phone plan (right now I pay $20/month plus fees) and lock in for 3 stinkin' years.

You all who are getting an iPad will really like it. I bought the 32GB wifi one on Friday and I'm enjoying it. All my friends are wanting one now. Yes, in some ways it is a big iPod Touch but the big difference is that the screen size and quality allow for more complicated applications to be used. And I gotta say, it's the best web browsing experience I've seen so far. Although I may have a contender, I've got my 17" MBP i7 8GB that just arrived an hour ago that I haven't set up yet. :)

Germany has this "tax", however it does not apply to the ipad.

Its only applied to the 64gb version of the iPad. PC without CD-Recording ability and with less than 40gb of Diskspace are freed from this tax.

Ordered mine 32gb 3G also aprox. 7 hours ago. Can't wait :-/

Has your Apple transaction tracked on Quidco yet? Pre-ordered mine this morning and nothing tracked so far.

yes i got an email from quidco confirming the transaction. make sure your cookies were enabled.

LoL, sucks to have to wait. Of course if you had a friend in the U.S. to hook you up that would be sweet..... Hmmmmmmm Perhaps you Might even be able to save a few bucks. ;)

Still a great deal...

Tom

I've got a TELUS USB 3G Stick and a data plan on my iPhone (Fido)... the iPhone package is $30 for 6GB - but you can't get that package any more.

The Telus stick costs me nearly $70 a month for 3GB - 5GB is about $20 more.

So, compared to "regular" data pricing in Canada - $35 for 5GB is a serious discount. Go look at Roger's "Rocket Stick" pricing - you'll see they are making some serious discounts.

I'd love to see unlimited data - but those days are gone. I had it with Telus but it was nearly $90 a month and slow compared to the new Telus/Bell 3G network.

Unfortunately, we are stuck in Canada. Still, the cost is much better than I expected.

And only... 79 days until the Irish release.

''Whoo''

(I complain now, but I'll be all over this when it is released here :D)

im sure you could go to belfast and get one couldnt you? then you only have to wait the same as we do :D

First off, Hello, new member to forums here

Is there an option to "reserve for pick up" at a UK store?

I read that for the US release there was the option to reserve to collect from the apple store on the release date, does anyone know if apple will offer the same in the UK, i've looked all over the apple retail pages and can not find any information on it.

Thanks

No it is delivery only, or buy one from the store (no pre-order).

I wasn't planning on pre-ordering one, but after looking at some videos, and since the price wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in Canada, I gave in.

It's really just a pricey toy for me, as I'm not planning on replacing my computers with it. I only ordered the 16GB one as I don't plan on downloading THAT many apps, I mainly want it for the simple browsing :)

Ordered my mum and her husband a 16gb wi-fi iPad. They want to go on the internet, but don't own a computer and don't even know how to work a mouse... I though "laptop" at first, but then thought of the endless hours i'll spend getting viruses off the thing and the usual "housekeeping"... In the end i recommended they get an iPad... It seemed to make the most sense... I'll set it up for them on my machine, sync with itunes; put my apps on it for them, setup a load of bookmarks of respectible websites and they're off!! Well, that's the plan... It's a gamble, but i think a reasonable one; i think an iPad will fit their needs perfectly, so much more than a laptop.... Oh, and i get to play with one for a few days too... Everyone's a winner! LOL

Please note that the IVA in Spain will be 18% only four weeks after the official release of the iPad in Spain.

According to one of Steve's famous one-line emails it does. He says that's why the 16GB Wifi iPad costs €514 in Germany - more than anywhere else in Europe.
Which is in fact a lie, really (but Apple is known to under rate the Euro, and for years already).

Edit: I checked the German Apple store and the iPad prices are €499, €599 and €714 respectively – for the WiFi versions – so Apple apparently corrected the error already?

I got my quidco tracking email a few hours later. £14.14. A bit tight really when I made a £96 order with viking the day before and got £9.15!

No, not happy at all. They forgot Portugal but they didn't forgot Spain which is side by side. Maybe next year we'll have iPads in Portugal. Bad Stevie !

They had forgotten Mexico and its next to the U.S.A.! I do recognize it will get there in July
